  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

BOSTON (AP) — A federal judge said Friday that she expects to temporarily block efforts by the Trump administration to end a program that offered temporary legal protections for more than 10,000 family members of citizens and green card holders.

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani said at a hearing that she planned to issue a temporary restraining order but did not say when it would be issued. This case is part of a broader effort by the administration to end temporary legal protection for numerous groups and comes just over a week since another judge ruled that hundreds of people from South Sudan may live and work in the United States legally.

Talwani conceded that the government can end the program but she took issue with the way it was done.

The government argued that just announcing in the federal registry that it was ending the program was sufficient. But Talwani demanded the government show how it has alerted people through a written notice — a letter or email — that the program was ending.

Law enforcement in Minnesota are forbidden to cooperate with the Feds enforcing any immigration laws or related activities but now they want the Feds to cooperate with them with this investigation?
Quite right. They were always willing to work with ICE on criminal investigations. That is the case in most sanctuary cities where ICE working with local law enforcement have done some good work with the gangs. But ICE doesn't have much time for that kind of work any more--they have to meet the quota. Cops aren't going to do sweeps and general roundups with them, they have real crimes to solve.

It's not a body cam. Its the phone he was holding in his hand.

Edit: Just to make sure we are talking about the same video: It's the one https://x.com/AlphaNews has pinned at the top of their Twitter timeline and has their watermark.
Thanks. That video seems to help ICE’s case

Well they can’t help with the investigation then because it’s related to immigration enforcement

The Right did, that's wheret he Great Replacement Theory came from. Working class Latino immigrants are generally social conservatives and always have been. Do you really believe Democrats don't know that? Is that why you can pretend that they were let in to vote left?
The Great Replacement Theory predates the border crisis

The general concept goes back to the protocols of the elders of Zion. It’s the same basic antisemitic trope but reworked to include other, more modern unwanteds like Muslims, leftists and gays.

I dunno, Officer Ross had his phone in his right hand, but after getting 270° around the SUV, he switched the phone to his left hand. Did he intend to draw his service weapon then?

I don’t see how.

It shows she was non threatening the entire time prior and trying to drive away after she was told to leave. A person with no training in a tense situation would naturally try to leave when someone is aggressively coming at them while brandishing a gun. All she had to get her out of that was her car. It also shows he had every intention to shoot well before he could even tell what she was doing. Poor decision on his part to stand in front of a moving car and an even poorer decision to shoot her multiple times as she’s pulling away from the scene. Then there’s the complete disregard and even misogynistic insults towards the woman he just killed.

That’s what that video shows me.

It that because he has such physical dexterity that he can hold a phone in his hand, fire his handgun 3 times, and get hit all at the same time without losing his phone or falling to the ground?

Five Native Americans detained by ICE during ongoing raids in Minneapolis

“I think some of them [ICE] don’t even know what they’re doing or where they’re at,” said Little Crow Belcourt, White Earth Ojibwe and the director of the Indigenous Peoples Movement. “They’re just pulling people over at random, if you’re Brown. Some of our Native (American) people get mistaken for our relatives south of the border.”

Minneapolis’ southside, particularly around Franklin Avenue East, has historically been an area for Indigenous people to gather and live. South Side Housing was first taken over by the Indigenous community in 1975, when it became Little Earth, and since then the area has become the center for the Indigenous community. Community members often call Little Earth an urban reservation, Belcourt said.

On Tuesday, ICE agents attempted to enter Little Earth Housing Project property. Little Earth is the first Native American community housing project in the United States. Property managers told ICT they informed ICE that they were not welcome and turned agents away.

One community member told ICT the agents appeared to be targeting maintenance workers and parents dropping children off at the Little Earth Daycare center, a predominantly Native childcare center.

Early Friday morning, ICE agents attempted to detain another Native American community member, Rachel Dionne-Thunder, co-founder of the Indigenous Peoples’ Movement, who was sitting in her car down the street from the Powwow Grounds coffee shop.

Coffee shop workers told ICT they ran outside to stop the agents and protect Dionne-Thunder, who recorded the incident on Facebook live.

[But at least 5 other Native men have been arrested.]

[Interesting detail:]

The United States Government’s searchable database of ICE detainees does not allow for the selection of “United States” as an individual’s birth country, making it complicated and impossible to search for citizens detained.

When they are just doing their job?

Well it seems I come across examples of this everyday...just crossed another one.

If there are people having trouble understanding why people dislike how iCE is doing their work, I'm hoping folks will be willing to share some examples. I'll do my bit when I can.
Because the people that are being rounded up and shipped off are
1. Part of the Democrats voting block.
2. Used to attain more House seats in the Democrat’s strongholds, since the House of Representatives is based on the number of people in your state.

Can’t vote legally
Yes, I am aware and we haven’t seen non-citizens illegally voting in any numbers of concern. Individual cases are dealt with as they come up.

I'd be calling her that too after she hit me with her car. Ramming someone with a vehicle is not remotely 'cordial and friendly'

As one Lutheran to another. Be better.

I’m sorry, but you are not living in the real world if you think that. It might say that in the Constitution, and people will parrot it to sound like they uphold the Constitution, but there are lots of states who have given illegals aliens the right to vote. Or at least sent them ballots to vote on, and have stopped requiring ID showing you are a citizen and made against the rules to ask.

But even if it was true, #2 kicks in to amplify the change to the House of Representatives representation.

They still can't vote in Federal elections.

Right. It even did when black people were slaves and not citizens.
