A couple of days ago in Minneapolis, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were conducting a lawful immigration operation when Renee Nicole Macklin Good allegedly weaponized her vehicle in an attempt to run over federal agents. An ICE agent fatally shot Good in what the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) described as self-defense. The investigation is ongoing, and body camera footage has yet to be released (at the time of this writing).

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey immediately blamed federal agents for the shooting, telling ICE, in an expletive, to “get out of Minneapolis” and accusing them of sowing chaos. This despite the fact that ICE agents were performing their constitutional duty to enforce immigration laws — the same laws that apply in every state, including Minnesota.

The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association condemned the “irresponsible” and “reckless rhetoric from political leaders attacking law enforcement,” stating it “has real and dangerous consequences for officers on the street” and “fuels hostility.” DHS reports a 1,300% increase in assaults and an 8,000% increase in death threats against ICE agents — directly linked to the demonization by sanctuary politicians in deep-blue cities and states.

Michie,

I read what you wrote, and I want to respond directly to the points you raised. The situation in Minneapolis is serious, and there’s more information available about the woman who was killed than what has been circulating in some political summaries.

Her name was Renee Nicole Macklin Good. She was a mother of three, a poet, a singer, and someone who had been active in her church community earlier in life. She had studied creative writing and vocal performance, won a poetry award in college, and was described by people who knew her as gentle, artistic, and devoted to her kids. On the morning of the incident, she had just dropped her six‑year‑old son off at school and was driving home.

There are multiple videos of the encounter from different angles. They show ICE agents approaching her stopped SUV, pulling on the door handle, and shouting. When the vehicle begins to move forward slowly, an agent standing directly in front of the car fires several shots at close range. The investigation is still ongoing, and the full body‑camera footage has not been released yet, so the complete picture isn’t available. But the videos that are public raise real questions about how quickly the situation escalated.

There’s also a clear conflict between how federal officials have described her and how her family and community describe her. Federal statements have labeled her a dangerous agitator. Her family, neighbors, and ex‑husband say she was not political, not involved in protests, and not someone who would intentionally threaten anyone. They describe her as a mother who was frightened and confused in a chaotic moment.

Because of that contradiction, and because the footage hasn’t been fully released, many people believe the situation deserves closer scrutiny before accepting any official narrative. That isn’t an attack on law enforcement — it’s simply acknowledging that the available evidence is mixed and that the public deserves clarity.

I’m not trying to argue with you here. I’m just laying out what’s known so far and how it fits together.

I hope this comes across in the respectful way I intend it.

I hear what you’re saying, but the available information paints a different picture of what actually happened. Renee Nicole Macklin Good wasn’t pulled over, chased, or stopped for any violation. She had just dropped off her six‑year‑old at school and was driving home with her wife when they came upon an ICE operation already happening on that residential street. Other cars were stopped as well because the road was partially blocked by the agents and their vehicles.

She made a normal, legal stop. There’s nothing in the reporting that shows she initiated any act of aggression. The videos that are public show ICE agents approaching her SUV, pulling on her door handle, shouting, and surrounding the vehicle. When the car moved forward slowly — which could easily have been fear or confusion — an agent standing directly in front of the SUV fired multiple shots at close range. That’s the sequence we can actually see.

Her family, her ex‑husband, and her wife all say she wasn’t political, wasn’t an activist, and wasn’t someone who would try to harm anyone. She was a mother, a poet, a singer, and someone who had just finished a routine school drop‑off. Nothing in her background suggests she would intentionally attack federal agents.

So the idea that “if she was driving home she would be home now” doesn’t really fit the facts. She didn’t choose to stop because she was looking for trouble. She stopped because the street was full of ICE vehicles and agents, and they approached her first. Once that happened, the situation escalated in seconds, and she never had the chance to simply continue home.

I’m not trying to argue with you — just laying out what the evidence shows so far.

A normal legal stop is not having your vehicle at 90 degrees from the right side lane and blocking the road.
She was not driving home, her wife even said it was her fault that Good was killed

The street was already chaotic with ICE vehicles and other civilian cars stopped or slowed. Her SUV was in the roadway like several others, but there’s no evidence she intentionally blocked anything or acted aggressively. Officials never said she “blocked the road completely.” They only said her vehicle was in the roadway. As for her wife’s “it’s my fault” comment, that was said about herself not Renee immediately after the shooting and wasn’t a statement that Renee caused anything. Her later statement makes clear she saw Renee as gentle, non‑violent, and simply caught in a chaotic situation. What a heartbreaking shame. I pray for her and her family and friends.

I can’t have a conversation with someone who believes that ICE agents approached this woman for absolutely no reason at all and ordered her out of her car ,
I have reserved judgment on the ICE agent who shot her, I haven’t said he was justified just that the available videos are not enough evidence to make that judgement.
But if you believe Good was just driving home after dropping her kid off and did absolutely nothing wrong there’s really no point in discussing this with you.

Rebecca “Becca” Brown Good, the wife of Renee Nicole Good, the 37‑year‑old Minneapolis woman who was fatally shot by an ICE agent as she reportedly/allegedly tried to ram ICE agent with her car.

Fox News identifies her as Rebecca Brown Good, noting she was the person seen in video at the scene saying “It’s my fault”

International Business Times also names her as Rebecca Good, age 40, and describes her as the registered owner of the vehicle Renee was driving

Reports confirm that Rebecca/Becca was present and recording during the confrontation. Video circulating online shows her filming as Renee drove toward ICE agents, moments before the shooting.

So what about pastors who disobeyed covid laws? Are they more accountable than mayors? I would think so. Blocking an intersection is not a felony. I can remember a tractor protest in d.c., a truckers protest in Canada, sit ins, walk outs, etc. Poor police training and an angry demeanor makes for poor law enforcement. This was a string of errors by many and mercy for none. That agent should be fired though. It was not his first incident and the cumulative trauma is a big risk. Noem and Trump need to understand that compassion too is helpful for compliance. A prized citizen was killed on their watch yet they resorted to defensive insults with little if any hint iof concilatory manners. Their my way or the highway that is never their fault is antagonistic making ICE's job more difficult because their law enforcement style now lacks citizen support in many areas and outright resistance in others.

I do think the false Renee Good "blocking the road" narrative needs to stop as footage immediately before the killing shows vehicles passing in front of Renee's vehicle and another vehicle (possibly the killer's) parked in a similar manner to Renee's vehicle right next to hers. It should also be noted that the killer's own footage shows Renee turning the steering wheel to the right before she moves forward i.e. away from the officer who was standing at the front left close to her left headlight. The killer was definitely not run over by Renee's car and there is no evidence that he would need to go to hospital afterwards for any physical injury - he is clearly walking about in a normal manner after the killing.

Here's an interesting review of the evidence and various angles of video footage of the same incident by a lawyer who used to be a ADA and a professor:

He explains the laws that affect the officer's actions and there are some additional videos that he shows that many of the media outlets have not shown. One point he shows is that he was not originally in front of the car until the lady backed up and turned her vehicle, which put him in front of it and the fact that when she accelerated he was actually struck by the vehicle at about the same time he opened fire.

There are reports that she was an "Ice Warrior" and trained to disrupt ICE operations while the government stated that she has harassing agents for a while before the incident. Her wife also stated that they stopped to help their neighbors and act as legal observers. I have found no supporting evidence of the claim of harrassment prior to this incident, but I have seen screenshots of her being connected to an organization that trains "ICE warriors".

None of that justifies her death, but if they did not stop and park perpendicular to traffic, this incident would not have occured. If the officer did not walk around the vehicle (it may have been a protocol to ensure no weapons in the vehicle - but I am not sure) - this would not have occured. If the ICE agents haven't been harassed on a regular basis, their stress level may not have been as high and that may have been a contributing factor. There are a whole list of things that may have contributed to this incident on both sides.

It should also be noted that since it was an active police incident, whether they agree with the action or not, the couple injected themselves into the incident when they tried to block ICE agent's vehicles. They refused what appear to be lawful orders that would lead to detainment because of their actions blocking the scene, then attempted to flee when ordered to stop and get out of the vehicle. Those actions are criminal actions subject to arrest and prosecution. If they simply wanted to be observers, as the wife claims, they should have parked their car, stood on the sidewalk and filmed. Release the video to show the actions fo the agents and let those actions stand on their own merit - good or bad.

Just to repeat the road was not blocked by Renee's car (I don't see why her name should be left out - she was a human being not just a question of legality). At least one vehicle passed along the road in front of Renee's car immediately prior to the shooting.
Intentionally parking perpendicular to traffic is an attempt to block traffic and is still against the law, regardless of whether they were successfully shutting down the road.

I was curious and mapped out the location of the school and the last known home address online as well as the location of the incident. The road the incident occurred is a one way in the direction headed towards the school and is not a major artery heading to their last listed address. I do not know that city's traffic, so I don;t know if doubling back would make it easier to get around a traffic issue somewhere else, but from a 500 foot view, this does not fit the narrative of just dropping off the son and heading home.

In any case, I pray that all of the people involved find peace - the victim and her family as well as the officer and his family, and the witnesses who saw such a traumatic scene.

Continued below.
Yes and Waltz and Ilhan Omar are also spreading false narratives or at least making claims about the event without the facts.

Omar claims the woman was just sitting there minding her own business and that you could easily see that this was an unprovoked attack.

I think they believe their own narratives after a while. Like somehow its justified to exaggerate or lie because its opposing a bigger problem which is Trump.

It's very difficult to be sure of Renee's intention especially now she is dead. Her killer's car was parked next to hers and was also pointing into the road: it wasn't parked parallel to the kerb. But the simple fact is that she wasn't blocking the road because the road was not blocked.
