  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The woman shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis was a loving mother, a poet and a partner whose family – along with neighbors across her stunned city and strangers far beyond – is shocked by the circumstances surrounding her death.

Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old US citizen, was killed when an ICE agent shot into her vehicle during an encounter Wednesday morning. Near an ICE vehicle stuck on a snow-lined street, the victim tried to “weaponize her vehicle” to run over an officer before he opened fire, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said.

State and local officials have strongly disputed claims the shooting, captured on video, was done in self-defense as tensions exploded amid this week’s deployment of some 2,000 federal agents as part of the latest surge in the Trump administration’s nationwide immigration enforcement crackdownand following claims of welfare fraud in the Somali immigrant community.

Report: Slain Minneapolis Woman Active With Anti-ICE Group

The woman who was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent on Wednesday after she allegedly tried to strike him with her vehicle was described as an anti-ICE "warrior" and was part of a group of activists who worked to "document and resist" the federal immigration crackdown in Minnesota.
Renee Nicole Good, 37, who moved to Minneapolis last year, became involved with anti-ICE activists through her 6-year-old son's charter school, which boasts that it puts "social justice first" and involves children "in political and social activism," the New York Post reported Thursday, citing multiple local sources.

How sad.

Sidebar note:

This week heard a man talk about someone he'd known who was a jolly person, and that brought to mind a woman who praised a former employer as the best one she ever kept house for. The jolly person was Bugsy Siegel. The man the woman kept house for was Adolf Hitler.

People aren't two-dimensional Saturday morning cartoons. People are complex. I've no doubt that the woman who tried to run over the ICE agents was a good mother, a poet, and loving to her "partner." Interesting CNN used "partner" when other news outlets pretty much indicated spouse, but whatever. It's also true that she attempted to run down ICE agents and saw herself as an anti-ICE warrior. That she was a good mother doesn't change that she tried to run down ICE agents.

She made a bad decision that cost her life. The right of peaceful protest does not involve disobeying law enforcement commands and using your car as a weapon. A sad situation absolutely but it was her bad decision that led to a horrible outcome.

Terrorist, like fascist, gets overused. The latest clip shows it's more likely that she was a provocateur, hoping to get arrested on-camera, and took it too far.
Her and her wife both.

And her poor decision left three children without a mother. All of this ridiculous rhetoric from many liberals in their hatred for Trump fuels this type of madness.

Was she a 'domestic terrorist'? No. But clearly she was going out of her way to impede federal agents in the course of their duties and, intentionally or otherwise weaponised her vehicle after failing to follow repeated lawful orders, instead listening to her 'wife' shouting at her twice to drive.

Pretty sure even her 'wife' afterwards said it was her fault.

Clearly she was at fault. The video footage of the agent don't show a woman fearing for her life, rather a smug woman that clearly thought she was immune from consequences. Perhaps she wrongly thought that because they were ICE they couldn't detain her, however they can under a few circumstances, this being one of them.

I wonder whether anyone has pointed out that much of ICE activity could be called state terrorism.

If she hoped to get arrested on-camera, she would have waited until some ICE agent draw her out of the car. Instead, she tried to drive away.
We know that even USA citizens may end up in a Central American prison, when they are taken by ICE. No wonder she refused to leave her car.

Driving backwards when an ICE agent is in front of your car means to try to overrun him? Which liar said she tried that?
She tried to drive away, and because an ICE agent stood in front of her car, she first drew back, then turned the gear and passed him, when she was shot.

Between 60% and 70% of those arrested by ICE are criminals, in Minneapolis they just arrested many who sexually attacked young children. A number of these criminals in Minnesota were released from custody into the population. As ICE told everyone, if sanctuary areas don't turn over the violent criminals or help in any way, ICE will have to do larger sweeps and will end up arresting those with lesser violations of law.

You can bet the paid agitators work for the same people that advocated defunding the police, that failed experiment is a matter of history. ICE law enforcement officers have had not just their lives threatened, but the lives of their families. In fact there has been an 8000% increase in death threats against ICE. There has been a 3200% increase in attacks against them with vehicles used as weapons. ICE is made up of Democrats and Republicans, people who are trying to do their job just like anyone else. Unfortunately the radicals who lost the election have decided upon harassment and violence against our public servants instead of focusing on winning the next election through peaceful discussion and debate.

Who says that? Is this a typical Trump lie?
Between 50 and 80% of those who were sent to Central America prisons were no criminals. Not a few of them were legally in the US. Some were even US citizens.
As ICE told everyone, if sanctuary areas don't turn over the violent criminals
LOL, at several places the local authorities said that ICE did not act on criminal hotspots. ICE is no source that can be trusted.

I rely on neutral media (in Europe), not on any agitators.
In fact there has been an 8000% increase in death threats against ICE. There has been a 3200% increase in attacks against them with vehicles used as weapons.
8000% means, from one attack to 80? Or from 100 attacks to 8000? Percentages mean nothing if you don't know what they relate to. What if the number of ICE agents rose by 10000% in the same time, i.e. less threats per person?
If there were a real point in that, you can surely tell me some more information - absolute numbers, the time span of the increase etc. Only telling percentages is suspicious.
Unfortunately the radicals who lost the election have decided upon harassment and violence against our public servants instead of focusing on winning the next election through peaceful discussion and debate.
Since 99% of the democrats are not radical, I doubt that the few radicals have that influence.

This is a ridiculous statement. With approximately 259 democrats in the house and senate 1% would be 2.59 radical democrats in both chambers. That is a ridiculously low number. Shall we start a list.? As of late Fetterman is the only prominent sane common sense democrat in both chambers. Maybe you got your numbers reversed.

  • Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14)
  • Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) (leadership emerita)
  • Ayanna Pressley (MA-07)
  • Summer Lee (PA-12)
  • Maxwell Frost (FL-10)
  • Delia Ramirez (IL-03)
  • Jan Schakowsky (IL-09)
  • Veronica Escobar (TX-16)
  • Chris Deluzio (PA-17)
  • Alma Adams (NC-12)
  • Nanette Barragán (CA-44)
  • Jasmine Crockett (TX-30)
  • Sara Jacobs (CA-51)
  • Melanie Stansbury (NM-01)
  • Ted Lieu (CA-36)
  • Joe Neguse (CO-02)
  • Jamie Raskin (MD-08)
  • Maxine Waters (CA-43)

Just a partial list!

Why do you think all these are »radical left«?

I looked for the first person, AOC, on German Wikipedia. She is definite leftist, but not radical, she never approved violence, or did I miss anything?

I don’t use German Wikipedia ! AOC supported a communist in NY , that is radical. Don’t try to tell me he is not a communist. His proposed policies say differently.
