MINNEAPOLIS — The misspelled day care at the center of viral outrage over the Somali community’s multibillion-dollar fraud scandal shut down last week, the head of Minnesota’s child services department claimed Monday — at the same time that the owners of the facility put on a dog and pony show for The Post to demonstrate that it was really a working day care and not a front.​

Tikki Brown, commissioner of Minnesota’s Department of Children, Youth and Families, told reporters that her staff found no evidence of fraud at any of the day cares highlighted by YouTuber Nick Shirley.​

Nick Shirley, also well known as a prankster on YouTube, learned to dress up his shock tactics as "journalism." You can't trust his reporting. Remember the video he did in Kyiv, Ukraine, where he made all those wild claims? He later claimed that he was just "making satire on the internet." That tells us everything we need to know. He is pulling the same stunt in Minnesota and the right wing is falling for it. He rolls up and films "empty" child care centers, probably on a Saturday or a holiday, and acts like he just cracked the case of the century. He's not exposing fraud; he's just using his platform to unfairly trash an entire Somali community and ignore all the hard-working folks providing essential care. It's sensationalized garbage that uses a handful of rumors to paint a huge group of people as criminals. The real truth is, a serious criminal case needs real evidence, not some persons edited, outrage-bait video. Let us reason, please.
