  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

does that make me Non denominational? my reason for not attending a church is I have an anxiety disorder and agoraphobia. I also am worried I'll pick a church that is not sound Biblically. I watch alot of Christian YouTube teachers and have learnt alot on there. there are just so many false teachers in the world now.

Not having a church doesn’t mean that you’re non-denominational, but your concerns about future church prospects being Biblical suggests that you are, for Non-denominational Christians care about the authority of Scripture.

Ah, that answers a question I have just asked you on another thread, asking you why you and your mum chose to baptise each other.

As far as this post is concerned, I suppose it depends what denomination you would be if you didn't have the anxiety disorder.

You might try calling the church secretary of a non-denominational bible church and ask if anyone were willing to meet with you in your home to teach you how to use bible tools like commentaries, a concordance, or bible software like esword (free).

If you can meet one on one, you might start to have fellowship and avoid the intimidation of a larger group.

You can identify as non-denominational if you want. I do it because I know the other denominations are not perfect in doctrine.

I haven't attended a church in about 6 years. I'll listen to Charles Stanley and read books written by Christians.

Hi, I think it is better if you can find links with a local-ish church. Iron sharpens iron and gives more opportunities to serve. It also means your brothers and sisters in Christ can help build you up. I attend my church's evening services as they are a bit quieter. I am also avoiding our church outing which is coming up soon as I don't want to talk to lots of people. I do go to our women's bible study. Not much socialising involved with that. After covid lockdowns my health suffered a lot and my social anxiety was bad and it took me 2-3 years to start attending my church regularly again as I couldn't face seeing people. It was difficult until I gave up trying to go to the busy, morning services. I can see that it was easier for me as I love my church family and knew them for years before my sensory issues, burnout and social anxiety flared up. Perhaps you could find a work around that will make things easier for you. Maybe one of the local churches have a way you could get to know just a few people by joining one of their study groups for a while or something?

Non-denomination seems the best fit.

I've wondered this myself.

I'm like you in that I have anxiety issues. I guess I am technically a Southern Baptist seeing as I'm a member of one of their churches, but I stopped going because I moved away and haven't found a new one. i still visit it when I happen to be in the area. Due to driving distance, it's not really practical for me to continue going there regularly, even though I think it's a really good church.

Still, I try to keep an open mind, within reason, to ideas from other denominations and traditions, as I don't want to put myself in a box or fall into blind sectarianism.

Where do you live? You don't have church? Do you even want a church?

I am from the Deep South (also called The Bible Belt) and we are littered with churches all over the place. Mostly Baptist churches. Can't get away from them honestly.
