  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another look at the moon landing.

What is the moon's job? To provide light at night, correct? Most of the time, it doesn't do that. Going through its phases, it puts out little light until it is nearly full. On cloudy nights, it's prevented from providing any light at all.

You could say the same about the sun, especially in the U.k :partlysunny:

Sure, I could say it, but I was asking what your own take on it was. You said the moon was floating around doing its job as God intended.

Which it does.
While floating around half darkened, and during the day half the time, and behind clouds where it can't provide night during the night?
If I did a job like that when the job calls for providing light, I'd be fired.

So what are you saying, that God doesn't do enough of a good job ?

That is very disingenuous of you.
Of course he isn't saying that. He is saying if that is the moon's job then the moon isn't managing to do it's job. Do you think God is responsible for Adam and Eve's failure?

I'm saying that the moon clearly is not a light. The bible uses figurative speech in many instances.

This is not figurative.

King James Bible
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

It does not delve into the mechanics of whether they are generating light or reflecting light. Obviously there is no conflict with Scripture when we understand that the moon is reflecting the sun's light, since that would by its very nature make it a lesser light.

And God made two great lights;

Not three, Not one & one reflected, he made two.

Is it still a great light when it's in it's "New" phase? How about when it eclipses the sun?

The words don't change meaning just because you used them with a bigger font. You are just repeating yourself without making any attempt to respond to what I said. You must be one of those people who think that shouting makes their argument more persuasive.

I'm not arguing with something that is so ridiculous.
