• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An Epistemological Look at the Resurrection

I definitely understand your point about the vitriol. I spent over 8 years in The Philosophy Forum, and one of my threads was on the subject of NDEs. I beta tested my arguments with other philosophers from around the world before I wrote my book. Many amateur philosophers and some professional philosophers look down on anything metaphysical, and I was a lone wolf howling at the wind.

Sites like this have every right to allow in whomever they please, but sometimes when we try to keep out the bad, we exclude the good. Of course, what's good will be defined by your worldview. So, do I understand, yes. I think I'll just leave and go back to my X posts where I have more freedom. God bless Elon.

You could also discuss Epistemology in general, I think, within the Kitchen Sink, but detached from the Resurrection. I have my own example of a thread I've done here that partially mirrors your own. As you'll see, though, it didn't go very far for very long............

Did you ever love your Creator when you believed He existed? I have read your thorough knowledge, your intense research and your commitment to establish and prove your findings, but that aside, did you ever love Him?

I do not recall ever reading where he said he was a believer. Just that he comes from a Christian background.

That's a choice you can make. On the other hand, there are still areas of CF you CAN post and discuss issues other than those which are central theological axioms like the Resurrection. You could, for instance, post and discuss topics in the Ethics forum or the Science forum. But, obviously, those respective areas of CF will not include discussion about faith or belief in the Resurrection of Christ.

So, I leave it to you.
I don't want my speech to be limited by anyone, especially if my speech is not harming anyone. I'm moving on.

Alright then. Take care. We'll still be here if you change your mind.

I appreciate your interest in NDEs, but the thread is about epistemology and the resurrection. First epistemology, then we will examine the evidence for the resurrection.

I have no interest in NDE`s whatsoever. what have you achieved of all your years and all your posh words?

If it is a light you need, I can offer you a match.

What do you think NDEs are about if not the afterlife and the survival of the self? I've studied this subject for the past 20 years. It includes reading more than 5000 accounts from around the world.
Failing brains doing weird stuff. Some people recover, most don't. They are also not universal in the "ND" conditions that sometimes induce them.

AMBASSADOR HAT

Alright, I see that I need to remind some people of actual Christian Forums' rules.
Now you're asking? Would that be From Testimony to Knowledge: Evaluating Near-Death Experiences (available on Amazon), which you have mentioned at least twice?
We do have a rule against promoting commercial products or services.
  • Repetitive posting of similar or identical posts or threads is not allowed. Do not advertise commercial products or services. This prohibition includes begging or soliciting donations or financial support (charitable or otherwise) anywhere on the site. Do not advertise or promote other sites in your signature or your custom username title.
However, it also has to do with the user's intent. There's a difference between "I have a book that I would like to use as a basis for a forum discussion here" and "Buy my book! Buy my book! Did I mention that I have a cool book?"

Not only that, but he may be posting parts of the mentioned book here as part of the discussion. If he doesn't tell us that's his book he could be actioned for copyright violations. Did you think of that? No? That's why you should leave moderating to the actual mods and Ambassadors who are trained to handle these types of situations.

Disruptive Behavior, Campaigning, Staff Disciplinary Action

To maintain the peace and harmony on CF you must refrain from doing the following on the public forums:

  • Making posts that speak of any Staff action either with you or another member (including any bans, warnings, or editing or removal of posts).
  • Do not add comments to posts once the thread has been closed for review. A closed thread means there should not be any further comment. Commenting in closed threads can result in a ban.
  • Complaining about another members posts/threads, Christian Forums or its Staff.
  • Spite reports - e.g. reporting in retaliation, multiple reports on a member using opposing arguments but are not violations, or repeatedly reporting a member in harassment.
  • Attempting to undermine these rules or policies via campaigns, petitions, or protests is not allowed.
If you feel the need to discuss another member's behavior, or have a issue about CF, its Staff or Policies, please make a Ticket in Support and discuss it in private with our Admins and Advisors.

That's the rule that was violated here, over and over again.
divulgence to my earlier question implies that theology and apologetics will be stepped on here in the attempt to explicate a particular view of The Philosophy of History and/or Historiography, you run the risk of having this thread closed and removed. And that would be an unfortunate waste of time for both of us.
This is flaming the new member. There's a difference between a Contempt of Christianity violation and this unbeliever simply explaining his own view. We have unbelievers who do that in the science forums all the time. And, if another mod disagrees with me and decides that it is, he was goaded into it by the question he was asked.

From my perspective, he's been giving us free philosophy information and this is how you treat him? This is a subforum problem - we just need to use two threads if this thread drifts into apologetics or theology by having this newbie start a second thread in Exploring Christianity or Ethics and Morality, which he was actually willing to do. He's been very cooperative and asking questions.
However, and as unfortunate as it is, you've been preceded here by a number of vitriolic, atheistic, rambunctious trolls who a few years ago, through their constant needling of Christians and their respective views on faith, have caused the rules of Christian Forums to be changed so that discussions that delve into the depths of Philosophy and Apologetics can no longer be had between Christians and non-Christians.

So, even though I consider myself as someone who has been partially influenced by philosophers like Wittgenstein in my own outlook on the world, that sort of discussion won't go far here on CF. So, you have two choices 1) leave CF and forget about it, or 2) change your approach to one that doesn't dig in too much and overturn the apple cart, so to speak.
Are you a mod? Do you have authority to make these sorts of determinations and dictate his options to him? I told him this thread was okay here. I don't see any rules that he has violated. He's not a troll. Do you think the members of staff are so blind that we can't tell the difference?

I'm disappointed. We could have had a good philosophical discussion here, but you chose to drive him away. Don't even think of pinning the blame for this one on the staff. This time, you did it to yourselves.
I don't want my speech to be limited by anyone, especially if my speech is not harming anyone. I'm moving on.
Go in peace. I am sorry that you have been treated badly here.

Do not flame new members and do not write posts to complain about the staff. If you have a problem with what is and is not allowed in The Kitchen Sink subforum, report the posts that are bothering you or file a support ticket with the admins.
