  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

33rd OT

2M 6:18-31

"I’m suffering it with joy in my soul because of my devotion to the Lord."

Let us live each day in joy. This is a good practice for the more difficult, painful moments.

Lk 19:1-10

Jesus says: "Zacchaeus, come down quickly; for today I must stay at your house."

Let us replace Zacchaeus's name with our own:

"(Name), come down quickly; today I must stay at your house."

Jesus is really saying: (Name), come down quickly within yourself, in peace and joy; I am in your house, in your heart.

With this joy and peace, my Love will touch the hearts of those around you.

33rd OT

1 M 2:15-29

"We will keep the covenant of our ancestors."

God's love is the covenant.

Lk 19:41-44

Jesus weeps over Jerusalem: "If this day you only knew what makes for peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes."

Each person is distant by a certain percentage from God's love, from joy, from peace. And these people weep.

The distance of one person, of many people, from God's love is the evil that spreads in the world.

We welcome God's love, and we have missionaries who allow God the Missionary to reach all hearts. Peace and joy increase in the world.

33rd OT

1M 4:36-37, 52-59

"For eight days they celebrated the dedication of the altar and joyfully offered burnt offerings and sacrifices of deliverance and praise."

Joy and bliss, is the feast of the Heart to hearts, of God with us, in our being.

Luke 19:45-48

The Presentation of Mary in the Temple inspires us to present ourselves to God, in order to receive from Him all that we need in the present moment.

A suggestion to achieve this: let us follow this recommendation from Pope Saint John XXIII: "Let us simplify complicated things and not complicate simple things."

Jesus repeats what is written: "My house shall be a house of prayer."

Mary is a person in prayer. Prayer is to be in the presence of God.

Lord, thank you for being with us and in all people.

May each person allow Jesus to open their heart so that His Love may pass through them and touch the hearts of others along the way.

33rd OT

1 M 6:1-13

"The king fell sick with grief because his designs had failed, he took to his be."

Designs outside of the Lord bares no fruit.

The king realized: "Now I remember the evil I did in Jerusalem."-

The king was inconsolable.

Let us commit evil to God in the sacrament of forgiveness, and live in peace. This will help others to live in peace with us.

Lk 20:27-40

Jesus says that God: "is not God of the dead, but of the living."

God gives us life, he does not take it away. God cannot take away what he gives us: all his graces, including life.

We are in a passage, but life always continues in God.

Christ the King

2 Samuel 5:1-3

The tribes of Israel said to David: "The Lord said to you (David): 'You shall shepherd my people Israel; you shall be ruler over Israel.'"

It is marvelous when the Lord speaks to our hearts.

The tribes of Israel came to David and reminded him of what the Lord had said.

Then they anointed him king.

Colossians 1:12-20

"Giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light."

Thank you, Lord, for loving us; we praise you, Alleluia. Thank you for your love that passes into my heart to the hearts of my family, my friends, and humanity.

Luke 23:35-43 (White)

Jesus is the king who lives in the kingdom, the Heart of God, and he reigns at this moment.

The thief says of Jesus: "This man has done nothing criminal."

This short sentence is crucial: He who keeps himself away from evil is in God.

Jesus says to the thief: "Today you will be with me in Paradise." In the present tense: "You are with me in Paradise."

At this moment, we are with God in Paradise. It depends on us to know this and to remain in God's joy.

34th OT

Daniel 1:1-6, 8-20

The question of food in Daniel's time is not an issue for Catholics. Except for meat offerings to idols.

The example we can draw from this is to distance ourselves from evil and allow ourselves to be loved by God.

Allowing ourselves to be loved by God, drives away evil.

Luke 21:1-4

What Jesus says here is a lesson in itself:

"Those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood."

As we know, Jesus wants to guide us to the realities of heaven.

The "surplus wealth" is a danger of pride.

But, for the little woman, she is present with her heart, and in her heart is peace.

Let us be like this little woman who allows God's Love to go ‘round.

Let us allow all people to discover simple joy within themselves.

God's Love is in all hearts.
