It is Israel's acceptance of their Messiah, Jesus, that leads to life from the dead for the whole world. In other words, they must be spiritually reborn.
Israel's acceptance of Jesus as their Messiah depends on them being provoked to jealousy by a community of pagan origin (Romans 11:11).
The way in which other nations receive and accept the gospel is intended to make the Jews jealous.
G-d's strategy is to show mercy to Israel through His congregation (Romans 11:30-32). The fact that the congregation becomes a prophetic witness is directly linked to its stand for Israel and Jerusalem in the place of prayer.
Praying for Israel and Jerusalem is G-d's strategy to release abundance for the nations and mercy for the Jews.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Ps 122:6
Because Jesus committed himself to reigning over the whole earth as King of the Jews from Jerusalem (Mt 23:39), Satan has set himself the goal of destroying the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem. If Satan can destroy the Jews, he can expose G-d as a liar and delay his own final judgement in the lake of fire and brimstone (Mt 25:41; Rev 20:10). That is why the enemy is determined to prevent the fulfilment of these promises by any means necessary.
Satan will gather the nations of the earth to his cause. In doing so, he will unleash a wave of global anti-Semitism unlike anything that has ever been seen before. This will escalate in all nations of the earth and actively seek the destruction of Jerusalem under the leadership of the Antichrist (Ps 2:1 .83:5; Joel 3:11; Zec 12:2 .14:2; Zeph 3:8).
The Lord has promised to unleash a pre-emptive strike against the enemy by initiating a prayer movement in the end times that will work in partnership with Him, praying for the salvation of Israel (peace for Jerusalem) and standing in unity with her in the midst of tribulation (Isa 62:6; Ps 122:6).
If Israel is G-d's means of world redemption, the congregation in the nations is the means of Israel's redemption.
I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? G-d forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Rom 11:11
Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. Rom 11:31
Paul sets the context for his mission among the nations in Romans 9:2-3. It is his great sorrow for his natural brethren (Israel). He explains that he brings honour to his ministry among the nations (Rom 11:13) in order to provoke them (the Jews) to jealousy. Paul wants to see a non-Jewish congregation that enjoys G-d's blessings and demonstrates G-d's presence in such a way that the Jews say, ‘We want what they have.’ The congregation in the nations is G-d's chosen means by which Israel will be provoked to say ‘yes’ to Jesus and His proven grace.
G-d promises that He will do two things concerning the salvation of Israel in response to the prayers of the saints:
1 He will release His voice on earth (spirit of prophecy);
2 He will release supernatural activities on earth (judgements against His enemies).
For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name. Isa 62:1-2
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Joel 2:28
1 The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus (Rev 19:10). G-d promises to release authentic, apostolic Christianity in response to the prayers of the saints. G-d will release a revival among Gentile Christians to provoke Israel to jealousy.
2 G-d will raise up messengers who will proclaim the ‘gospel of the kingdom of G-d’ (Mt 24:14) with boldness, authority and clarity especially to the unsaved Jews in the midst of the tribulation.
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come. Joel 2:30-31
There will be supernatural demonstrations of G-d's power on a scale and with an intensity never seen before. The outpouring of the Spirit upon all flesh and the cosmic signs are unique in their universality and intensity.
G-d will judge the nations (including Israel).
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. Joel 2:32
The end result of G-d's actions is the liberation of Jerusalem from its enemies, the salvation of ‘all Israel’ and the full establishment of G-d's kingdom on earth.
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. Rom 11:26-27
G-d's end-time work is triggered by his zeal for Jerusalem and by the praying congregation, which aligns itself with His heart and prays for the salvation of Israel with fasting and holy gatherings all over the world.
Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your G-d: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your G-d? Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their G-d? Joel 2:12-17
The main task of the congregation is to pray for the salvation of Israel and to provoke the Jews to jealousy (by becoming a powerful prophetic witness) so that Israel may receive G-d's mercy.
Today, G-d is calling forth ‘watchmen’ (Isa 62:6) from among the nations who, like Paul and David, carry His heart for Jerusalem, fight in prayer for Israel's salvation, and will ‘give Him no rest’ for Zion's sake.
This prayer movement will culminate in the return of Jesus, the salvation of all Israel, and the completion of G-d's Kingdom ‘on earth as it is in heaven.’
What is our mission to Israel according to the Word of G-d?
Pray/intercede (Ps 122:6; Isa 62:6-7, Rom 10:1)
Christians pray for Israel because the Bible calls on them to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and bless Israel. These prayers are based on the belief that G-d has a special covenant with the Jewish people and that Israel plays an important role in His plan of salvation. Such prayers typically include requests for peace, comfort and protection for Israel.
Show love (Isa 41:10; 43:1-4; Jer 31:3 .9)
Christians should show love towards Israel. This love is demonstrated by acknowledging G-d's love for Israel, understanding Israel's biblical significance for the history of salvation, and seeing the people of Israel as part of G-d's plan, as stated in Romans 11:29.
Shine light/be a witness (Mt 5:16; Rom 11:11; Acts 1:8)
The Christian witness to all peoples, including Israel, is a mission to let light shine and to be a witness. Since Israel is the starting point of the Christian message, this witness also has special significance for the Jewish people.
Bless (Gen 12:3; 27:29; Num 24:9; Mt 25:40 .45)
Christians who bless Israel expect G-d's blessing in return.
Comfort the Jewish people (Isa 40:1-2)
Christians are called upon to comfort Israel and stand by them in a time of restoration, to proclaim their sins as forgiven and to provide them with comfort and encouragement.
Help Jews return to Israel (Isa 49:22)
G-d promises to make his power available to the nations in order to enable the return of His people. The verse describes how the nations will bring back the sons and daughters of the people of Israel on their arms and shoulders. It is a promise of hope that even the Gentiles (non-Jews) will play a role in the restoration of Israel.
Support Israel materially/financially (Rom 15:27)
The Gentile Christians participated in the ‘spiritual goods’ (the Gospel, faith and salvation) through the missionaries from Jerusalem (such as Paul himself). This spiritual fellowship gave Paul a moral obligation (debt) to serve Jewish Christians in material need with ‘earthly goods’ (financial or material assistance).
