  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is no way to prove that, people don't live but on the very edge of Antarctica.
Of course there is. There are manned research stations all around Antarctica. They all experience 24Hr sun during the peak of Summer
The easiest point to reach is off the southern parts of south America. The video is from the coastal area of Antarctica, there is even a guy with short sleeves on in one of the videos, Antarctica is vast.
It's the 5th largest continent, and if it is not windy then it can be quite pleasant in the sun for short periods of time (during Summer)
Those who tried to circle it in the 1800s logged something like 60000 miles give or take, because it is an ice wall, not a continent.
In 2022, Lisa Blair completed the Antarctic Cup Yatch race solo in under 93 days. The distance circumnavigating Antarctica below the 40th parallel is between 14000 and 16000 nautical miles (16110 - 18412 miles).

The sun is not always in view in the videos provided in this thread. Which way did the sun go after it passes our view left in the second video? Did it go behind them? If so why did they not make effort to record that? The solid proof of anything would be continuing to see the sun as it goes.
As I have told you, the videos are interactive. You can adjust the view so that the sun stays in picture. Just click on the “Watch on YouTube” on the bottom of the video you want to watch. Then while watching on YouTube use the mouse if you’re using a computer to move the picture so that the sun always stays in view. To illustrate this here are some screen shots I took on my phone for the second video at the same 4 second timestamp. The sun is in different locations on screen in each screenshot because I paused the video and moved my phone around.

Yes, the light source is the sun, the following image shows an approximation of what they experienced and why there is always light at that time of year in that spot.

View attachment 372951
The little gray dot is an approximation of where they are and the orange shows the path of the sun, at different times of year that path widens and moves, thus different parts of the land get different amounts of light.

My drawing is not a perfect representation, and from looking at the videos more closely now, in the 360 view on my phone, the path is more directly over them than what I drew, from what we can see in the videos the sun looks to be pretty much over them the whole time, it really does not look like it is millions of miles away, but rather circling directly above them. For some reason the path of the sun gets close to that spot at certain times of year, then moves back and expands at other times of the year.
The correction my image needs is for the path to be over the grey dot.

So why do people in the Northern and Southern Polar regions both state that the sun appears in the sky during night time hours at certain periods in the year?

Because that cannot be explained by a flat earth.

It is possible to see webcams live from Abisko, I'm unsure if they cover all 360 degrees and now in winter it's the abscence of sun that shows the effects of latitude. They are there so we southerners can see aurora borealis more than once (in my case twice) in a lifetime.
