When we were discussing Mercator some months ago, I remember pointing out that Mercator himself had never even been to the Arctic, so how could he have known about what was in the centre? All you could do in reply was point to a letter he wrote, but you were not able to provide a quote from the letter that stated he had actually visited Antarctica, or been to its centre.So the Mercator's map were just made up ?
