  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

anyone living in the northern polar regions knows that there are 24 hours of sun during certain months of the year. It's a recorded fact that cannot be explained by a flat Earth, but 100% explainable with a globe Earth.
What record, where is the video of a 24 hour sun?

The people who live in the northern Polar regions there are the record. They experience it; it's called the midnight sun. Or you can even go to somewhere that experiences it yourself to see for yourself. Anywhere on the northern coast of Sweden is the best example. Or Iceland or Greenland.

Any videos from them? Some sort of proof?

No because this thread claims to have video for the 24 hour sun, TFE, and I've yet to see 24 hours of sun.

YouTube doesn't allow full 24 hour videos but here's part 1:

Here's part 2:

And here's part 3:

There we go: 24 hours of sun in the Antarctic, uninterrupted.

Or, you know, you could pay for a flight to northern Sweden in the Summer months and experience it yourself.

Seeing light is not the same as seeing the sun for 24 hours, the sun is not in those videos for 24 hours.

... light comes from the sun. It's the only way for anywhere on the Earth to get any light bright enough as in those videos. Ergo, it's the sun for 24 hours.

You've failed. Be humble and admit it.

In the second video when the sun goes out of view to the left, why do they not turn the camera towards it? Did it go behind them and around? Or which way did it go? Solid proof would have been to keep tracking the sun.

No, let's go back to the comment I responded to first. You said, and I'm quoting you directly here:
"Seeing light is not the same as seeing the sun for 24 hours, the sun is not in those videos for 24 hours."

What else would the light source have been if it couldn't have been the sun?

The videos are interactive and are recorded using a 360 degree camera. If you watch them on YouTube you can use the computer mouse (or your finger if viewing on a phone/tablet, or even just turn the phone/tablet in different directions to see all around the camera) to bring the sun back into view again. The camera does not have to move to track the sun, it is always in view because it is a 360 degree camera.

I hadn't heard that phrase before; thank you for telling me. :)

I legitimately thought it was a particular American Christian thing. I mean it might be, but I only found out about it from The Simpsons.

The sun is not always in view in the videos provided in this thread. Which way did the sun go after it passes our view left in the second video? Did it go behind them? If so why did they not make effort to record that? The solid proof of anything would be continuing to see the sun as it goes.

Yes, the light source is the sun, the following image shows an approximation of what they experienced and why there is always light at that time of year in that spot.

1000000935.png

The little gray dot is an approximation of where they are and the orange shows the path of the sun, at different times of year that path widens and moves, thus different parts of the land get different amounts of light.

My drawing is not a perfect representation, and from looking at the videos more closely now, in the 360 view on my phone, the path is more directly over them than what I drew, from what we can see in the videos the sun looks to be pretty much over them the whole time, it really does not look like it is millions of miles away, but rather circling directly above them. For some reason the path of the sun gets close to that spot at certain times of year, then moves back and expands at other times of the year.
The correction my image needs is for the path to be over the grey dot.

There are multiple videos of the 24Hr sun in Antarctica from TFE. They did have a couple of issues with the time lapse tracking, as the motor drive automatically stopped at one point and reversed, apparently an automatic feature to prevent cables twisting around the tripod. The manufacturers obviously assumed 10-12 hours tracking and hadn't considered it might be used in the Arctic or Antarctica where it could have longer daytime or night.

Your diagram fails because at that time of year the entirety of Antarctica can see the sun for 24Hrs
It is also contrary to every explanation ever offered by flat earthers to explain the different daylight hours in the Summer and Winter.
In the Southern Hemisphere, Southern Africa, New Zealand and Argentina all have the same numer of hours of daylight. Your diagram is contrary to that observation.

There is no way to prove that, people don't live but on the very edge of Antarctica. The easiest point to reach is off the southern parts of south America. The video is from the coastal area of Antarctica, there is even a guy with short sleeves on in one of the videos, Antarctica is vast. Those who tried to circle it in the 1800s logged something like 60000 miles give or take, because it is an ice wall, not a continent.
