CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Storytelling wasn’t a familial event but a frequent form of play in my childhood. Board and card games were long time favorites growing up and as an adult with family, friends and children.

I finally had a chance to work on my personal curriculum yesterday and I’m finalizing it and making adjustments. It’s a recent trend designed for edifying pursuits that improve our knowledge and person. Unlike previous iterations it isn’t dominated by aesthetics or Herculean tasks (which have their place) and the likelihood of continuance is great. I’ve included a couple of videos if you want to learn more or try it yourself.
I’m using a seasonal approach and a notion template to keep track of things. It isn’t perfect and I’ll probably buy one instead. But for the moment it’ll do. As for the rest, the sky’s the limit. You can focus on anything and grouping them in categories is easiest. I have four at the moment but six is probably best and I’ll add them tomorrow. The activities you have in mind are distributed to the groups with resources in tow and a schedule follows.
The neat thing about this is the reemergence of stimulating discourse that doesn’t involve politics, religion or debates. Not that they’re bad but they’ve become a source of contention in this space and it’s nice to see people focusing on other subjects. I look forward to reading more and challenging myself. The weather is cooling and I enjoy Russian novels in that setting and Dickens in the winter.
I’m reminded of the scene in Pride and Prejudice where Bingley is chided for his lack of discrimination on accomplished women and his sister corrects him. We don’t have a similar standard today but renaissance women are on the rise and accepting the mantle. I expect we’ll see a rekindling of cafe society and the intelligentsia. We’ve been on this trajectory for a while and we’ve found our sweet spot.

Personal curriculums are quite the rabbit hole and I’ve enjoyed hearing what others are doing. In the midst of putting my list together I remembered I had one elsewhere and another in my notes. The latter was part of a lifestyle shift which I haven’t been able to work on due to canning. But there’s a solution for that as well. Which confirms its time to get things underway.
One of the videos I listened to shared an interesting approach some might appreciate if an alternative is preferred. The 3-2-1 method requires you to do 3 things daily, 2 weekly and 1 per month. It’s ideal for busy periods, greater variety or short attention spans.
I’ve chosen to approach it as lifelong learning and structure helps with consistency. Several tools were suggested and I found multiple notion templates I plan to use for different purposes. Having everything in one document is overwhelming. Although I have things in mind for the year I prefer to address them seasonally during the appropriate period.
I ended up with ten categories that covers everything and filled them in. I can make additions of course but I don’t want to repeat the process every quarter and its probable I’ll do them in yearly batches instead. I’m harmonizing everything and that’s the rhythm I’m after. I consider fall a period of transition. We still experience the harvest from summer but the pace is slowing. That’s why we’re opting for cozy over busyness.
This is a wonderful complement to our biblical calendar. Every quarter brings new discoveries and greater displays of symmetry. We’re getting closer to former ways we’ve read about elsewhere. I don’t want to mimic them exactly. But I think we’ve lost important truths through our modernity that I want to reclaim and this is another step towards it.

Spiritual Gifts in Action
The gift of writing: the special gift whereby the Spirit enables certain Christians to translate Bible truths into a written form that can edify, instruct and strengthen the community of believers. This is a gift of creative ability that is called into use in the service of the Lord to forward his kingdom.
Although this gift is not specifically named in New Testament gift lists, there is little dispute that God still gives special creative abilities for use in his work today as he did in Old Testament times. David’s great poetic ability was a skill God used to enhance temple worship, and his writings became timeless through the Psalms, moving literally hundreds of generations of believers.
The gift of Exhortation: the special gift whereby the Spirit enables certain Christians to stand beside fellow believers in need and bring comfort, counsel and encouragement so they feel helped. It is an ability to minister strengthening words of consolation to other members of the Body in such a way that they feel helped and healed. The gifted believer is able to reach out with Christian love and presence to people in personal conflict or facing a spiritual void. By virtue of this gift these people are motivated through encouraging words to live fruitful lives.
The word “exhortation” today often carries a connotation of harshness, and that is actually incorrect. The Greek word “parakalon” in Romans 12:8 is literally translated “encouragement” - it refers to the often gentle actions of one who “comes alongside” to offer comfort, counsel and encouragement. The insights delivered with this gift enable the believer to find ways to bring out the best in others. It suggests reassurance, buttressing, consolation and support. Although it does not exclude the possibility of rebuke, the emphasis is on the positive. Many think of it as the “counseling gift.”

Do you have any friends who are married or older women in stable relationships you can connect with? Oftentimes when you’re struggling you need someone with wisdom who can see the things you miss. The latter is more likely to know men around your age that may be suitable. The subject comes up pretty often in the singles forum and they raise a lot of issues that are echoed elsewhere that provides insight on the qualities christian men are seeking and their struggle to find the same.
Based on the things I’ve heard and observed the following traits are most desirable. A relationship with the Lord, feminine, respectful with traditional values and family oriented with a teachable spirit. I recommend more attentiveness to the fruits of the spirit and communication. Especially listening and discourse. And by the latter I’m referring to the passage where we’re advised to be slow to speak, quick to listen and slow to anger.

This might be controversial to some of you...
Lately, I wish there was some kind of community or support group for unvaccinated people. There has been so much change in the world since the vaccine happened, and I honestly don't know many people in real life that didn't take it. There is nobody at work that I'm aware of that did not take it; the ones that I knew didn't take it either have been fired some time or quit. Many of my family members took it. A couple of them will listen to me now concerning health things, but I have a particular family member that thinks my beliefs are a joke.
It's a stressful situation I have been dealing with for a long time.
