  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind? Friendship Court edition.

I think it's a term by non Christians so makes sense you don't like it.

I did an AI search. This is what it told me:

I wish this section of the forum was more active.

I've been thinking about this: I would like to get chickens, and I used to have a bunch, but the cat, Callie, is a killer. They would surely all die. She's a half-feral tortoise shell, and lives to eat, sleep, and torture all the critters on the property. She catches and kills squirrels. Chickens would be no problem, I think. People tell me she's not half-feral, it's just the way with that kind of cat, but it definitely means no chickens. I really don't want to have chickens I can't let roam so I'll just wait for Callie to finish her killer life. I'm also grateful she is no bigger than she is.

I've heard tortoise shell cats are mean.

I used to have a calico and she was mean.

She definitely has a strong personality. She likes to be rubbed but rarely purrs, and very lightly when she does. I have also heard torties are mean, and I am inclined to believe it. I have a gray cat, Charcoal, that sounds like a motor boat when he purrs. I basically inherited these kitties. I haven't had a cat since I was a kid so it's nice. Cats are a different kind of animal, and I enjoy them. They're not at all like dogs, which is what I've always had.

I had a tortoise shell Cat for over 17 yrs...she was the sweetest cat in the world.
She was very friendly around strangers also.
So I'd have to say due to her and other tortoise shell cats I've personally been around, they are not mean in general.

Callie- She's a killer, but she's living a pretty good cat life, I think. My sister and I open the screen door on command. We're living in her world. At this moment, she's thinking about killing this phone.

I'm watching a documentary on Frank Serpico. I always liked the movie Serpico and am interested in hearing his own account. Anyone who stands against systemic corruption is a hero, I don't care who you are or what you think.

My review: It's a fascinating look not only into corruption but Serpico's steadfast sense of justice. One fascinating part is when they interview Serpico along with a fellow cop from that period, who basically defends the way Serpico was treated when he was shot, i.e., no other cops came to his assistance. It's an interesting, and sad, documentary.

I grew up with a calico. She wasn't mean per say but she was ornery.

Whenever she was placed outside, in just a few minutes, she would be standing at the glass door meowing to be let back in. Her meowing would get lower and sadder sounding as time went on. I remember playing around with her by coming up to her from the other side of the door and she'd reset her meowing pattern.

She didn't like being pet on the stomach. Don't remember if it was because of medical reasons or she just outright hated it. She did however love being pet on the head and back and would occasionally do little hops as I rubbed her back.

As for current pets, while my folks technically own them, I have two long haired chihuahuas I love to visit. They're absolutely precious, but they're also both real jerks.

One of them likes to kill birds that fly into the backyard windows and get dazed. According to my dad, she played around with the bird at first by pulling out its tailfeathers so it couldn't fly off before eventually snapping its neck. I remember being shocked to hear that, as she was very timid around other animals for the longest time. She's also on a diet and whenever she wants food she would just bark at my dad for a long time demanding food while he does his best to ignore her.

The other one has a strong bond with her sitter who looks after dogs for a living to the point of being possessive and bullying the other dogs. She doesn't seem to know how to play properly as whenever a dog who isn't her sister tries to play with her she just bites at them.

You got this painting at home?
It's well done.

I wish I had this painting at home. Thank you for thinking that was possible in my life. :) No, it was meant to be a joke. The poor boy wanted Schelling, but what he got was Hegel (the fella in the painting). It was funny to me when I posted it. This just goes to show that humor is all about timing and context. Still, it was funny. :)

There is a form of entertainment that is not expensive.
It doesn’t bombard you with endless ads.
It strengthens family bonds.
It frees you from brainwashing.
It brings joy to everyone, everyone loves it.
Most importantly, you won't be exposed to immorality.
It sounds fantastic, right?
Guess what it is.

Game night?

------

I desired game nights with my family. My mom didn't want to do it. I had come to believe that family game nights was something Hollywood made up, until I found out other families actually did play games with each other.

Game night, or day, or afternoon etc does fit my description. That's good.
But it's not what I've in mind. Try again please. :)
