  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can man, without the light of faith, by his reason alone, know that God exists?

We basically agree here. No one can come to God unless He draws Him and man in its natural state can not come to God but if God draws him (seed) then He can become a believer. This IS the same argument that I made at the beginning of this thread. If natural man can reason God’s existence then God drew him to Him and he then would become a believer.

"Can" become a believer and "would" become a believer are two very different things.

When drawn, it becomes possible for a man to become a believer. Without God making the initial move, it's impossible for a man to become a believer.

But "would" implies that God's call is irresistible, which is not the case...which is what I said at the beginning of this tangent.

All based on their decision to purse it. Enter the seed that fell by the road.

Yep. Not before.

I can agree with that. However, there are groups of believers that were called and their call was irresistible as well as some unbelievers. Some are predestined. Without going to deep here, examples of believers would be the apostles and of unbelievers an example would be pharaoh. So it is not cut and dry.
