  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump's reputation will age like fine wine

You mean the people that worked with him, worked for him and had a better understanding and first hand knowledge of Trumps character?

Yeah. Those people.

But they're terrible people... getting bad people to criticize other bad people doesn't give criticisms any legitimacy.

The members of the Outlaws MC hate the members of Hells Angels MC.

Their criticisms, accusations, etc... should be given the merit they deserve, which is very little.

If I were constructing a critical narrative about the Hells Angels, I wouldn't be using the viewpoints of Outlaws members, or former HA members that got kicked out "in bad standing", to bolster my case.

It's pretty much "low hanging fruit" to go after someone based on the statements of the people they fired.

If my boss fires me tomorrow at 4:45pm, by 5:00pm, I'll be ready to air out all the dirty laundry lol.

I'm reminded of villains in DC Comics distancing themselves from the Joker. They may be bad, but the Joker is that much worse. Even bad people can have standards, reasonable lines that they won't cross. And when they point to someone who crosses even those lines, it's best to pay attention.

Besides, bad people can have their good sides. I can designate George Washington as a bad person because he owned slaves. Still, he did a solid job as the first president and set the standard for presidents that followed. I'm not going to throw out everything the guy did because of some bad behavior. I'm not going to dismiss things Obama said because he blew up some innocent people with drones. Bolton is low on my list of political figures due to his thirst for war, but he can still make some good points.

If their opinions came as a surprise and they had reasons to lie then I'd be suspicious. But they are confirming everything that we can see ourselves.

In which case what they says is not the only evidence against him. It's further confirmation of what we already know.

Purity tests are dumb. Nobody is "pure", politically or morally. If you insist on only pure witnesses or accusers, then you will have none. (Including none to witness against the bad witnesses.) With any "witness" (good or evil) an evaluation of what their motivations are, what they could possibly know, etc., is part of understanding their testimony. One can live by a code of ethics and honor and be a war monger, just as one can live a life in service and be jealous of the recognition given to others.

Trump's reputation will include his criminal record, his blatant racist dog-whistling, his Dunning Krueger's, his Narcissistic Personality Disorder - and now his grifting of the American people!

From our ABC.

"Conflict of interest" does not even begin to describe it!
Couple this doco with the BBB and you really do have "Democracy of the billionaires, by the billionaires, for the billionaires."

And the sad thing is because Trump dog-whistled all the 'right' things to the working class and rust belt - and offered up "THOSE IMMIGRANTS" and those factories "In CHINA" to the working class as simplistic scapegoats to their problems and HE was the strong man to deal with them - people voted for him. People trusted him. But his NPD means he does not really even see them as people!

Also - constant unnecessary lying.

Trump appointed the head of the Federal Reserve in 2018.

When he had his spat about him this year, he said to the gathered reporters "I think he does a terrible job - he's costing us a lot of money. He's a terrible Fed Chair - I was surprised he was appointed - I was surprised quite frankly that BIDEN put him in and extended him!"

Watch his face as he says this.

Does he know he's lying? When he leans forward and his voice raises like he's telling a story to school children - is that him knowingly lying - or is that dementia?

It's hard to tell these days.

This raises so many issues for me.

Was this some kind of DC / Marvel crossover?

Isn't Red Skull actually a Marvel villain - as per Captain America's first movie?

Or is this like them mirroring each other? Marvel always seems to copy after DC - so how on earth did the MCU smash the DCU so comprehensively over the last decade/s?

Time often smooths rough edges. Political movements tend to turn polarizing leaders into symbols — simplified and idealized.
People will remember “he spoke for ordinary Americans” more than “he tweeted insults at 3 a.m.”
Populism will remain strong globally, Trump will come to represent the origin point of a major political realignment rather than just a single administration.
He will be a hero for his foreign policy.

History is out on his moving the country to an autocracy. Future historians may or may not be in support of the movement toward autocracy in the US.

Yeah, Red Skull is a Marvel villain, and an enemy of Captain America. The panels are from a crossover comic called Batman & Captain America (involving, as the title says, Batman and Captain America).

He will be a hero for his foreign policy.
Nope. He has NOT ended the 7 wars he claims to have.
He has NOT brought peace to the Middle East - but a temporary and fragile ceasefire.

Peace in the Middle East would require the following additional EXTREMELY DIFFICULT steps:
1. GETTING ISRAEL TO GRANT THE RIGHT FOR PALESTINE TO EXIST!
While many Israeli citizens disagree - the government is incredibly racist and hostile to Palestinians - and denies Palestine the right to exist. They have occupied the Palestinian territories AGAINST INTERNATIONAL LAW for nearly 80 years now. All because America backs them and enables them to!
2. Kicking over 500,000 ILLEGAL ISRAELI Settlers out of the West Bank!
3. Move Israeli soldiers and occupiers out of BOTH ILLEGALLY occupied territories COMPLETELY.
4. Creating a legitimate Palestinian Authority.
5. Create a few internationally patrolled DMZ highways across Israel to link Gaza and the West Bank (with north south tunnels for Israel) to grant freedom of movement to both Palestinians across their own state, and Israeli's across theirs.

Until all of these are achieved - he's just whacked a band aid down and is calling it a heart transplant!

History is out on his moving the country to an autocracy. Future historians may or may not be in support of the movement toward autocracy in the US.

If they live under a Trumpist autocracy - will they be ALLOWED to sing anything BUT it's praises? ;)
Anyone else will get the DOJ set on them ... like Bolton, etc.

But that's what actually happened, in essence.

Democrats ran certain people out of the party and shunned them for not passing the "purity test", and republicans welcomed many of those people in with open arms despite not having a huge amount of overlap.

Ezra Klein (in an interview -- I think the one with Gavin Newsom) referred to it as a "toxic purification process".

(Paraphrased) "A serious problem our tribe has is a toxic purification process, they'll kick someone out for a single point of disagreement, while the republicans will gladly welcome pretty much anyone, even if they have very little ideological overlap and disagree with them on everything else. Take Joe Rogan for instance, a Bernie bro evolutionist who supports gay marriage, enjoys drugs, and believes in climate change. Conventional wisdom dictates that the republicans should've wanted nothing to do with him. Despite him agreeing with us on most of the issues, we kicked him out because he opposed one particular vaccine, they rolled out the red carpet for him because he aligned with them on trans sports issues, and not much else".
He endorsed Trump; he may believe those things but to believe those things and endorse Trump doesn't make sense.

But they'd already turned on him prior to him endorsing Trump for 2024.

If you recall, that happened more around 2020-2021. He became persona non grata in the more liberal circles after his criticism of the covid vaccine stuff.

We have high-level political scientists in Australia discussing how bad it is for a nation to see their leader go and prostrate themselves before Trump in the golden throne room, kissing the ring lest they make daddy angry.

Then as a result of "No Kings" day Trump puts up a video of himself as Tom Cruise (with a Crown) in a Maverick jet dropping poo all over the protestors? JD Vance puts up a video of Trump drawing a royal sword on a throne, and his staff bending the knee and touching the floor before him reverentially?

This administration is a cartoon of itself - a walking blustering narcissistic joke.

Because THIS is how a real President posts!

1. KING MAVERICK DROPS POO on CITIZENS

Because he's the mostest Presidential Personage Ever! In a bigly way!

1761004763753.png

2. POPE TRUMP

Because ranting about how he'd make a great Pope when Trump is the first convicted Felon President - with ambiguity over what's exactly in the Epstein files - is a dignified and statesman like way to behave!

1761004837592.png

3. RACIST TRUMP

Because - racism sells to a certain base!
1761004902790.png

4. INSURRECTIONIST TRUMP!

"If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country!"
1761004987849.png

5. CORRUPT TRUMP

Australian ABC 4 Corners. Watch all 45 minutes. That's just the TIP of the iceberg of how Australian's view this narcissistic entitled grifter! Try watching the 4 Corners specials on Trump's insurrection and electioneering tactics!

Let alone threatening NATO, Zelenskyy, and even democracy itself.
Q: Should the American President defend the Constitution?
Trump: I dunno

THAT is how the world sees Trump!
THAT is how history will see these terrible embarrassing years.

Can you offer any evidence this is a real post by Trump? Doing some searching, I'm seeing people post images, but never any links to where he posted it. Now, it's possible it was posted but deleted, but if so there is normally archives one can access of them.

Other things that are suspicious about this image: If I look on Truth Social, there is a little icon next to the checkmark showing he is part of "Truth+ Premium" that is missing from the above. It also lacks the "ReTruths", "Likes", and date of posting that should appear at the bottom--and there seems to be too much of a blank space at the bottom of the image to believe that it just didn't copy that part. These are signs of a faked image. That combined with the apparent inability to show evidence he ever posted it leads me to conclude this is most likely a fake image.

While I put very little trust into AI results, when searching on Google (for "I'm not incompitent" and "Trump") Google's AI did tell me:

"President Donald Trump did not say "I'm not incompitent". The statement and its misspelling have been circulated widely in recent months on social media, especially Facebook, appearing in meme-like posts that attribute the quote to him. There is no official record of him making this specific statement."

Again, I put very little trust in what AI spouts at me without verification, but it tracks with what I've found, or more accurately not found, so far.

Oh, well in that case...

Wait, if the concept of a King is abhorrent... remind me again, who's technically the sovereign over Australia?

It's Charles III correct? He has a certain royal title, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it is, but I want to say it starts with a "K".

I think he's on a few coins

Then as a result of "No Kings" day Trump puts up a video of himself as Tom Cruise (with a Crown) in a Maverick jet dropping poo all over the protestors? All that proves is that some progressives can't take a joke, and only think rioting is acceptable for causes they agree with.
(which is why so many conservatives dig their heels in and don't want to concede an inch to that ilk)

Democracy is 'sacred' when they're on the winning end.
Democracy is the 'tyranny of the majority, and we'll forum-shop to challenge it in a friendly appeals court to get our way' when they lose.

This is the reason democrats are losing in the US...
the notion that their ideals/priorities are so vitally important that they transcend life itself (and anyone who disagrees is expected to go sit at the kids table when it's their turn to be in charge), yet, for the other team's priorities, they're expected to make 50/50 compromises when they're in charge. (and even when they are the compromising types, they still get called racists/sexist/nazi/etc...)

If someone see this:
1761007819391.png

...and their first thought is "I need to point out that this is racist and feign shock and horror at seeing it to get some likes on social media to show all of my progressive friends how socially aware I am"...they should be fully aware that they're precisely the reason why their team lost in 2024.

If it needs pointing out that it's racist (as apparently I need to do to you), then yes, there's a problem.
