  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

High school homecoming celebrations in Mississippi ended in gunfire, with two separate shootings on opposite sides of the state Friday night that left at least eight people dead and many more injured, authorities said.

Six were killed in downtown Leland after a high school football homecoming game in the Mississippi Delta region on the state’s western edge, according to the county coroner. On the east side of the state, a pregnant woman was among the dead, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said.

Some 20 people were injured in the gunfire after people gathered in the downtown area following the game...

Meanwhile, police in the small Mississippi town of Heidelberg in the eastern part of the state are investigating a shooting during that community’s homecoming weekend that left two people dead.

Both of them were killed on the school campus Friday night, Heidelberg Police Chief Cornell White said.

What should people expect from people who are producing children to either get a check, they are 14, 15, 16, etc.. years old, they are on drugs and trading sex for drugs or all of the above

Do you really think these people are worried or care how these children are going to grow up.

Sadly, that's all they know. That's why early education is very important for young kids. Free mommy classes would be a good. Teaching about BC. Having free BC and condoms available. Drug programs. It would be nice if churches and the government would help these people.

Whats new, this has been happening now, for about 10+ years in the delta. It is black on black killings and is 95% drug related

2022

Absolutely correct. Americans kill each other all the time. Mostly because of drugs or just moral failings. American on American violence is a daily occurrence and never gets into the news.

I’m being subtle.

Agreed. Americans really are their own worst enemy. They’re either high or claiming some kind of benefits. When they are not killing each other.

I’m not anti American (I know some good ones) but they’re just not like us Europeans.

I’m fine with them in general but I wouldn’t want one to marry my son; or even live next door to me.

Too subtle? Should I dial it back?

No it is not all they know, it is a life style they want to live. I have absolutely no sympathy for these people.

It’s easy to assume people choose that kind of lifestyle willingly, but poverty, lack of opportunity, and growing up in an environment where the cycle of poverty has been long established have a lot more to do with it. The state of Mississippi needs to be investing more in community programs, education, and economic opportunities, especially in communities that have the highest rates of poverty and violence. More funding for NGOs that work in these communities and having more people willing to volunteer would also go a long way. In addition to having some of the highest rates of poverty in the country, Mississippi also has some of the weakest gun laws. This too needs to be addressed.

I am not assuming nothing, i live here and see it everyday. I see people who do not want to work but want to live a gangster life. We have programs running out of our ears and there is not enough investing that will change these peoples view of life.

Or we could just stop incentivising single motherhood and perpetuating a culture that glorifies how much money they can scam off the government and baby-daddy child support. This was LBJ's plan all along in his so called "war on poverty."

Does that include the culture that proudly boosts a guy who, while campaigning, bragged about minimizing his tax bill (through means we now know were at least partially fraudulent) and, since he's been in office, has openly used government resources to enrich himself and his family.
