  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No. Now, moving on. This may sound crazy and absurd, but it is possible to say things that others may find hurtful out of love and compassion. Like a loving parent telling their child that they are disappointed with their decisions. Is this why so many people in the left enjoy the thought of conservatives being killed, because they cannot handle constructive feedback?

Trying to put circumstances into context of the topic being discussed with an example that has already been given isn’t trying to promote neglect or ignorance. This is a political discussion without compromise between factions who totally disagree.


Outside of this a Christian should know that their faith involves charity & prayer ( Matthew 6:1-13). A non Christian should at least agree with the aspect of charity. A Christian should also know the lay of the land around them ( Matthew 24:1-14 etc.).

Being disappointed in a person's decision is different from saying "you are a bad person and are going to hell".

And that's not what "Go and sin no more" means, anyways, in the context of the pericope adulterae; it's not fundamentally about expressing disappointment. Disappointment would imply a position of judgement, which is not the point of Jesus' words. If he wanted to judge her, he could have easily done so, but he said "neither do I condemn you".

I don't know what you are talking about. I don't enjoy the thought of anybody being killed. I think this says more about you than it does me.
