  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's the issue, isn't it? That Trump's vision of the Constitution is warped and ugly, and misrepresents the vision of the framers.
I’m sure his understanding of the constitution is as extensive as his understanding of the Declaration of Independence.

Yeah but for many people it’s a low paid job which is not good enough to live on because the business owner is too bad at business to be able to pay a living wage without going bankrupt.

Who would want to support that system? It just encourages poor business practice and subsidises failing businesses.
Uh huh. And what is the employee in such a job free to do in a free market economy? He can apply for a better job with different employer.

That’s not the fault of the unions that’s fault of the business owners who put profits over people. Using bullyboy tactics to keep the working man in his place.

And you want to prop that system up? Why are you on the side of the people who sacked you?
I was working as a security guard with a security company that was contracted at a site of a factory. The factory was able to find a different contractor to take our place because our contractor had to charge the factory more for our services because we were now getting paid more, which our company told us they couldn't afford to do. So then the factory got a different security contractor that could do the job for less than what we were getting. That's how a free market economy works.

I doubt the framers of the Constitution wanted illegal aliens invading the country, and then getting benefits at the same time.

What were the legal requirements for gaining residence at that time? How did they define "invasion?" What government health care benefits were valuable then and how did one qualify for them?

Seriously? In every single instant where some type of government healthcare system like what was talked about was implemented, it has lower costs and better overall health for the population, but you just aren't sure? Really?

That is so mean! Just because he got the DoI totally wrong is no reason to impugn his knowledge and understanding of the Constitution. Sure, he came off as a total buffoon saying the DoI was about "a declaration of unity and love and respect" but anyone could make that mistake! Maybe he did have the reporter fired, but Moran's expression was incredulous and he refused to say Trump was right about Albrego Garcia's tattoos, so he had to go. We can't have reporters contradicting the president to his face!

What benefits? For that matter, what illegal aliens? People crossed borders freely back in the late 18th century.

I don’t get the point you are trying to make. Why didn’t you just apply for the new company? Isn’t that what happens in a free market economy?

I really do get the feeling that the framers of the Constitution had very little idea of how things would be after nearly 250 years.

UK, France, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland.
UK has an income tax rate of 40% if you make more than 52k

France has an income tax rate of 30%

Sweden has an income tax rate of 52%

If you truly believe the taxpayer is not paying for healthcare, you are greatly deceived

30-50% of your income for life.

Please point out where I made such a claim? The topic was healthcare costs and results.
And you pulled at least some of those numbers from someone's behind. Average tax rate in Sweden for example is ~23%. Please don't tell me you're yet another one who doesn't under how tax brackets work, that seems to be a very common occurrence amongst US conservatives.

An F-35 costs somewhere around $110M (or 30 top-of-the-line MRI machines); fortunately due to tax-cuts, future generations will be paying.
