  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

NAIROBI, Kenya — A Muslim high school student in Uganda stabbed his brother to death, one day after he converted to Christianity.

Akram Kairoki, a third-year student at Mbale High School in Mbale city, twice knifed his brother, Shafiki Wasike, on Sept. 1 shortly before they arrived at the school, sources said. Wasike was 19.

“Why should my brother stab me — I have done nothing wrong to him. It is only changing my faith and joining the Christian faith,” the bleeding Wasike said before succumbing to his injuries, according to classmate Jonathan Kabaale.

This appears to be yet another fake persecution story from Morning Star News. Below are a few highlights from the article in the OP, followed by what is reported locally.

"Akram Kairoki, a third-year student at Mbale High School in Mbale city, twice knifed his brother, Shafiki Wasike, on Sept. 1 shortly before they arrived at the school, sources said. Wasike was 19."

The murder of Shafiki Wasike occured on July 28th, not September 1st. The killer, Akram Kairoki, was not his brother. The attack occured after school, not before, and involved several others belonging to a rival group.

"Wasike, of Bujoloto village in Nkoma Ward, Mbale City, had put his faith in Christ after attending an open-air evangelistic event on Aug. 31,"

This is not possible. Akram Kairoki was killed on July 28th.

"When Wasiki returned home that evening, his brother angrily told him that he must understand that, in their home, they do not accept the practice of two religions and that he should denounce Christianity immediately, Pastor Wabomba learned from him.

Again, Akram Kairoki is not related to Shafiki Wasike,

Kairoki went into hiding, but police from Mbale city mounted an intensive search and arrested him within a few days; he has since been charged with murder, the pastor said.

It took nearly a month to locate the killer.

Senior four student stabbed to death in school fight

According to eyewitnesses, a fight between the students' rival factions escalated into a physical confrontation before it spiralled out of control at about 5 pm, resulting in Wasike's tragic demise.

Wasike, 19, who was pronounced dead at Mbale Regional Referral hospital, where he was rushed by three colleagues, was reportedly stabbed by the assailants using a screwdriver. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Was he murdered for conversion to Christianity?
That doesn't seem to have been a factor. The story about his recent conversion is probably fabricated.
