  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Multiple victims in Michigan church shooting; church on fire

"Prayer back in churches"? Good bye.
Yep. Wasn't one of the arguements about school/mass shootings that they were happening because God/prayer was "taken from school"? Well this happened in a church so I guess the same logic should apply.

And the killer was a God fearing man and regular church goer (no true Scotsman, please - we're all sinners remember). And a Trump supporter. But...

...he didn't shoot people because he was Christian or because there were no ten commandments hanging in his school classroom or because his politics were right wing. I hope that's clear to everyone.

Psychiatry is probably to blame. Either that or straws.

Steve Bannon has cooked up a new explanation for what may have driven a supporter of President Donald Trump to massacre people at a Mormon Church in Michigan.

The MAGA commentator, who was once a White House strategist in the first Trump administration, said that “psychotic drugs” may be why Thomas Sanford fatally shot two people and burned three others alive.

“I think these shooters this weekend were also on these psycho, you know, the psychotic drugs,” Bannon said on his show Monday. “We’ve let the psychiatry industry basically poison the minds and the bodies with drugs. We have a massive problem that is the foundational element of the violence atop.”

From last Sunday:
He dated a Mormon woman several years ago but he just took off, according to the woman. There are reports that he called the Mormon church the antichrist. One may wonder if Tyler Robinson being a Mormon triggered him

Sounds like a bit of a stretch. But who knows?

Who knew England was such a racist country.

Anyone who has studied English history?
Anyone cogent of recent English social and political dynamics?
Anywho who watches and reads a broad selection of news media.

Yeah. England has fallen to Muslim extremists...again. Historically, a crusade was the reaponse to push the Muslim invasion back. But I dont think the world could stomach it. Therefore, London is officially captured Muslim territory.

Maybe London can be another Dearborn MI where the Muslims run the city and name streets after terrorists and tell non-Muslims they aren't welcome there if they dont want to be awakened by the call to prayer in the mornings or have streets named after terrorists.

At least they can get rid of those nasty white conservatives. Turning London into Azerbaijan will be great.

Well it's as good an explanation as any right now. Not saying its right. But we do know drugs can have some serious side effects on the brain.

Where are you getting regular church goer from?
This link was posted a day or so ago: Michigan church shooting suspect went on anti-LDS tirade, political candidate said
I heard he was a meth head, as such...
Many years ago.
I figure it's the meth that screwed his head up so much as to live with a dead body for a week...
What? Are we talking the same guy?
Christians don't go shoot up the Mormons after cooking up some meth.
I think that you mean that the Christian faith doesn't teach you to do evil. But plenty of Christians do lots of it.

Hello Brad. I hope you have not tired of me.
I just wanted to point out that Satan can use anyone.
Recall that he use Peter (Matthew 16:21-23) - a man that was so passionate about God. Satan also used Judas.
All Satan needs is a foot in the door. If we allow him that, he works at undermining one's faith.
Then, it's only a matter of time, unless we work to combat that, by doing the things Jesus says.

In Peter's case, it was a lack of prayer, because he was overly confident.
In another's case, it may be failing to study - to feed regularly... etc.
Joseph was an imperfect man, but when tempted to give into a sin most men would not say no to, Joseph refused to give in... because he was constant in his meditation on God. (Genesis 39:7-9) So was Daniel, and many others.
Imperfection was not the issue, was it.

Many years ago.

Maybe - but that stuff screws people's heads up very permanent-like, especially among those who are described by people who knew him as a 'meth-head", as opposed to someone who might have experimented with drugs.

Have you ever met a meth head? You can tell even after they have been clean for years that they were. The damage that stuff causes is permanent.

If they aren't following the teachings of the Christian faith they cannot be called Christian.

At best all you can say is how much exposure they had to the truth.

Are there people with higher levels of exposure who do evil things? Yes, and they are judged by God accordingly, or forgiven accordingly if they repent and believe in Christ.

In the end, we don't live in a utopia, and aren't trying to create one. Just want to live in communities we can live in, and share the truth of Christ with the lost.

The reception of Gospel isn't up to us, it's just to us to speak it, and live it out the best we are able in community together.

It’s not though. I lived in London for several years and the only racism I encountered was from white people.

It’s not though. I lived in London for several years and the only racism I encountered was from white people.

Were you told by white people if you take issue with memorializing actual terrorists positively in your own society (such as is naming roads after them) that you need to leave town and the mayor will throw a parade to commemorate your exit?

That was said to a Christian Minister by Muslim mayor because he tried gently bringing up it might not be positive for society to name roads after actual Islamic terrorists.

What you might take as mild bigotry isn't a neon sign screaming we hate everything about you get out. The worst you usually get from white people is mild ignorance and some mild cultural insensitivity born from it.

And if you haven't been to London for a while, I hear it's fairly unsafe for anyone to live.

Because the west is so liberal, we will never be able to live side by side with Islamic extremism, and any person in the west ought to be free to express that, when even Muslims themselves can acknowledge it. That is not racist.
