  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is futurism necessarily premillennial?

I've been researching various end time views to figure out where I land. I personally lean premillennial, but hold to it tentatively and open to amillennial and postmillennial positions. The only opinion I have that I am somewhat confident about is that I see the prophecies as having an "already but not yet,"'l aspect. You can find events in history that are similar to those foretold in Revelation, but I think they are partial fulfillments and parallel (aside from maybe the destruction of the temple in 70 AD) the total fulfillment is yet to occur at some point in the future.

My question here is merely due to curiosity. Futurism (the position that all or most prophecy in Revelation will find fulfillment at some point in the future) is often associated with premillennialism, and, in particular, dispensationalism.

Could one hypothetically be a futurist amillennial, for instance?

I usually think of Futurism as synonymous with Premillennialism, but apparently this necessarily the case. I can see that Futurists may see a future Antichrist, and yet deny a literal Millennium will take place after Christ's 2nd Coming.

Dispensationalism is Premillennial, but not all Premillennialists are Dispensationalists. For example, I'm not--I'm a Premillennial non-Dispensationalist. ;)

None of the 'isms, or ists', have any value or relation to what is Prophesied to happen. Gods Plans will come to pass as Written.
It is just peoples fanciful ideas which make the many and varied theories about the end times.

God said, thru Isaiah 29:9-12, that people will confuse themselves, and because their imaginings contradict scripture, God will lock them into their delusions.
This truth is obvious, as we see from the stupid; 'pre, mid and post Mill' views, plus preterism and all the other wild ideas. ALL have no scriptural support and cannot happen

What WILL happen, is the next Prophesied event; the Sixth Seal worldwide disaster, then - eyes will be opened and ears unstopped. Isaiah 35:5, Jeremiah 6:10, Isaiah 42:18-20
