  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There’s a new app in town. Have you heard? :crosseo:

Tea, an app that allows women to post pictures of men they’re dating for feedback, is going viral. Tea is now the No. 1 lifestyle app in the App Store, with over 1 million women signing up over the past week. Marketed as an online dating safety app, Tea allows its users to post photos of men and ask others for “tea” — in other words, dirt or gossip — on them. It is gaining popularity on TikTok, particularly among Gen Z users.

Unlike dating apps, the purpose of Tea is to verify the identity of people on match-making apps. It’s not doing anything new — there have long been Facebook groups where women share pictures of men they’re dating to check for red flags.

Powered by AI-driven safety technology and real-time identity verification tools, the aim is for women to have the power to discreetly check that the men they’re dating are who they say.

Features include reverse image search, with users able to catch catfish and fake profiles by dropping a screenshot into Tea’s Catfish Finder AI. Phone number lookup helps verify if someone has a hidden marriage or concerning history with their phone number. Background checks include the ability to access public records, sex offender maps and criminal history to assess if your date is safe to meet up with in real life.

The app includes an anonymous space where women can share dating experiences, ask for advice and leave honest feedback on past partners called Tea Party Group Chat. The Tea app is for women only. The app uses an identity verification process to ensure only women are joining.

………..

There’s a lot of controversy around this app. What are your thoughts? Should Christians use it?

It all went wrong when they got a taste of their own medicine.

They used it to dox men, and then the app was hacked and their photo ID and exact GPS locations got leaked, then they were suddenly appaled at the idea that people were judging them and leaking their private information despite them doing exactly the same to men.

I think the app is a warning and anonymity is gone. All of the entries aren’t true or false and none should assume they’re safe. Everything will come out eventually including the corn. That’s why you might as well come clean.

I felt a strong impression a few years ago to limit my discourse and interactions in this medium. I stopped DMs, calls and meeting in person outside of business associates. I had a feeling things were going to get bad and outings would follow.

And reading the comments in some sites like reddit, somehow women that used the app cannot comprehend what they did wrong.

I think the app is an awful idea. Going on dating apps like tinder and meeting with a person you barely know is not advisable in anyway. The app seems a way to solve a valid concern (safety) which has a deeper problem (promiscuity).

This sound terrible to me. I would never do this to someone or want it done to me.

You can privately search online to find information about a person through background checks, linked in, social media activity, etc. Meeting their family, friends, and coworkers can go a long way in establishing if they are safe and honest.
