  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A reality star has revealed that he is no longer gay and credits God for his shift in sexuality.

Davis Mallory starred on MTV shows The Real World: Denver from 2006 to 2007 before doing three seasons of The Challenge on the same network.

The former covered the 42-year-old reality star's journey in trying to be comfortable with his homosexuality after growing up in conservative Christianity and his family taking issue with it.

However, now the singer/songwriter has revealed in an Instagram video post on Monday that he no longer identifies as gay as he said: 'God really pulled [him] out of that lifestyle a year ago.'

In the video he took to the stage at Arise House of Prayer and Worship in Hawaii and recalled his upbringing.

Davis said: 'I lived the gay lifestyle for about 20 years. I was on a television show, The Real World, and I came out on the show as a gay Christian, but God really pulled me out of that lifestyle a year ago.'

This is why we need to speak properly to all sinners. Only God can truly change a person's spirit. We need to show God's love for all and bring them to God and allow God to do the hard work.

Praise God! These sorts of stories are what the world needs to hear. Often Christianity is seen as "don't ...." do this or that, but we need to be able to put the whole truth out there. That God is a miracle working God, who can change people's lives for the better. Also that as Christians we are not alone. We have the power of the Holy Spirit to help us, hope for the future and are part of a local and worldwide church, whose main characteristic should be love.

The reason these transformations/miracles are not discussed as they should be is because they are just too offensive to the ideology most are indoctrinated into now. And many do not have the courage to speak out seeing the reactions to such experiences. Calling a transwoman a biological man regardless of the truth of the matter is enough to get someone targeted. JMO.

Suppression of sexual desire is not the same as change in sexual orientation. And being dishonest with yourself isn't really a virtue.

How he chooses to live is private life is his business, but it's wrong to weaponize these kinds of personal experiences against gay people. Deciding to live a celibate life is not the same thing as a genuine change in sexual orientation.

Yes, the secular media would probably not report such a miracle (all kudos to the Daily Mail for doing so) and most non-believers probably don't read/watch Christian news outlets.

That’s true. I can think of plenty of people who lived a celibate life with no issue. Including Fr. Henri Nouwen, Fr. Seraphim Rose, Fr. Mychal Judge, Eve Tushnet, Beckett Cook.

Some argue that St. John Henry Neumann might have been gay, but there is no evidence he broke his vow of celibacy, he lived with Ambrose St. John, another English Catholic priest for 28+ years, and they were buried together.

When St. John Henry Neumann was exhumed, his body and casket were found entirely decomposed with some metal and tassels from his hat left. Everything else was gone.

Why is that relevant to anything?

I wouldn't say they had "no issues". Nouwen seemed to suffer from lifelong depression. And Seraphim Rose's take on Orthodoxy wa dark, sometimes bordering on the inhuman, which suggests he had some deep-seated psychological problems, possibly related to his sexuality.

Fr. Mychal Judge is a bit of an outlier, in that he represents somebody that was psychologically integrated, but it might be explained by the fact he was honest with himself about his sexuality, and didn't weaponize his celibacy: he lived a celibate life himself, but he also dissented from official Catholic teaching and tone at the time. He was outspoken about this in fact, although he did so in a manner that was as respectful rather than contemptuous.
