  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump to designate antifa a 'major terrorist organization'

So let's take proud boys.... 5 people were convicted of felonies, a 6th person was acquitted and 3 people were convicted of various crimes like conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, and 2 assaults on on a police officer with pepper spray. That's a grand total of convictions of 8 people.

2 People were convicted of breaking windows.

Now, the vast majority of regular convictions were misdemeanors like trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Radical Islam is an ideology. Perhaps they should be treated in a similar fashion like it's 2001.
"Terrorist organization" means you can start exerting law enforcement against them.

In the USA we dont do that just for holding ideological views, even bad ones. Well, we dont do that yet..... Are you suggesting we should?

There was an administration that warned about radical Islam in 2001.

Thank you, here's the issue I have with this publication. On their own website, they state: "The views expressed on this site are attributable to their individual authors writing in their personal capacity only," So that doesn't mean things are fact checked and they also have a podcast, which doesn't bode well... They also don't even list their sources. They literally just say, "We have identified 100 Proud Boy leaders, members and associates who have been charged with committing crimes related to the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol." That's it... No other mention, no info, no nothing. And according to PBS, it's more like 3 dozen members (here) not 70 something. So here is a conflict of info.

But I don't want to hijack this thread even further. So we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I am suggesting that all legal methods should be used as aggressively as possible to stop the spreading of radical leftist ideology that breeds, inspires, and incites the ANTIFA and like minded ideologies. Radical Islam would not be promoted in schools, media, government, or corporate business directly after 9/11, neither should the woke liberal ideologies after a political assassination.

All of that is completely aside from what the state can do to you if just holding various ideas means you are part of a legally designated "terrorist organization".

No. You may not be part of a terrorist organization. But spreading the ideology that attracts people to the terrorist organizations and their cause. For example, you may not be a member of ISIS, but if you are teaching radical Islam in your mosque and spreading ISIS propaganda, you are implicitly promoting their ideology and encouraging their recruitment efforts.

It is about time! They, and others like them, both on the left and the right, needs to be dismantled like the KKK in the 1980s.
Amen, brother! Enough is enough!

Antifa, if it exists at all, is a randomly and haphazardly assembled group of like minded persons in opposition to what they see as fascism. It is not an organization such as people meeting in the woods under white robes burning crosses and planning their next campaign and membership drive. Good luck trying to eradicate the resistance. I think it is just more empty rhetoric from the Oval office rallying the base. But there is plenty of room on the bandwagon for those who want to jump on.

All I will say is that Trump is setting the table nicely for next democrat that is President. Given his ratings it might be sooner than most expect. What is on the table for a future adminstration if Presidential and party power is expanded? The Senate voting only with a majority for any radical to be confirmed, a group like the NRA perhaps being labelled a terrorist organization, or at a minimum lots of those militia type groups. Not too mention if the tariff policies go through a dem President can raise tariffs, perhaps ammunition, or firearms, they could tax remittances on missionaries (Soon to occur in some instances already) Bans on Chrisitian missionaries coming in - no problem, just sign an executive order. Perhaps too we will see the seizure of assets of these so called domestic terrorists. So if you think it is fine to trust Trump, he will be long gone when someone new comes in and pushes the envelope AGAINST believers.
We already have lots more surveillance, no knock warrants, electronic monitoring from foreign country's. For now it is non-citzen undesireables that can be whisked off to Uganda, but it won't stop there if we continue to disrespect the courts or pack them with judges who give unlimited power.

Just today the Supreme Court temporarily allowed the FTC commissioner to remain fired. If they rule on this permanantly it will overturn a 90 year old law that used to limit who the President could fire from independent agences like this one. If Trump gets his way, that would mean a dem could fire every Republican and we would be totally in the dark as to what these agencies are doing and planning. Take the FTC for instance. Maybe a radical decides in the future that certain appeals for collections of non profits including church organizations are fraudelent and deceptive and decides to take action.

The shooting of alleged drug smugglers in international waters is despicable. You do know some could have been juveniles or even US citizens. If you do not care, this is far worse than 1800s vigilante justice, where are least the accusers had a chance to say something before they were hanged.

I hope everyone knows too that Bush and many of the Patriot Act provisions were wanted even before 9/11 occurred. After that attack, nearly all of Congress signed off and traded liberty for security, the very thing we were warned not to do. So invent a crisis, have some even fabricated (would not be the first time) and take the power you want is the default position of most Presidents and Trump is certainly among them, and perhaps even chief among them.
When you see expedience and convenience over liberty the citizenry is a very frail position. So be careful what you wish for.

Same way we check when we blow up the boats in international waters. Who cares? (sarcasm)

If you were protesting, you were part of Antifa. See how simple that was? See how easily we are willing to give away freedom?
