  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and of God’s merciful love. They should all know this: if you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country and this world,” Kirk declared.

Amen.

People have to answer that question for themselves.
An individual killed Charlie Kirk. His name is Tyler Robinson, and investigators believe he alone is the one responsible for Kirk's death. There is no "they."

Should any blame be placed upon whoever influenced Tyler Robinson into hating Charlie Kirk while deciding Kirk needs to be assassinated?

I never heard Charlie Kirk "preach" of "God's merciful love". He was a smug provocateur who said not particularly nice things- sometimes even hateful things- about gay and trans people, black people, women, Muslims, etc. and carried water for genocidal regimes. But I never heard him preach about God's love.

I'm sorry for Ms. Erika Kirk's loss, but her husband is not a martyr of the Christian faith. All the evidence seems to be he was killed because of his politics, not because of his religion. The Kingdom of God is not a political party. I never heard Charlie Kirk say anything about loving your neighbor, caring for the poor, the imprisoned, or the stranger, or any of the things Jesus actually commanded. All I heard was Christianity reduced to a political brand. And that's despicable.

Kirk pits grace against truth in his answer to his interlocutor in that video in an unhelpful manner: Charlie Kirk's understanding of truth itself is based on a modernist epistemology, and is quite foreign to genuine Christian theology, rooted in Hebraic thought and the Church Fathers, where truth is relational, contextualy sensitive, and discerned through embodied practice rather than dialectic or proposition (which means his whole practice of "owning the libs" carries no epistemic weight... feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, those are the things that are emblematic of truth).

"Love thy neighbor" is the greatest commandment, next to loving God, upon which all the others depend. Jesus was willing to relativize all other commandments in the Torah if it came at the expense of the neighbor, which sometimes brought him into conflict with the rabbis of his day, because he healed on the Sabbath.

Still no answer from our friends on the right who seem to agree with Mrs Kirk’s message.

Who are the they she’s speaking of?
The people who wanted to silence him and probably all the people who celebrated his death as well

Seems that the killer is perhaps not from the far left. The words on the bullet casings seem to show that he may be part of a white nationalist movement. What Is A 'Groyper' And Why Are People Saying Charlie Kirk's Shooter Is One? Nick Fuentes's 'Groyper Army' Explained.
Doesn't really matter, they'll go after the left and trans people anyway, just to be safe and because they didn't mourn loud enough or even dared to voice negative opinions about him.

But on the upside, that guy must be really miffed by being seen as a left-wing trans person. Probably a worse punishment for him than whatever the judge will hand down.

Which are...? I mean, it's getting pretty obvious why this is spoken with such generalized terms to the point that they don't really mean anything.

What’s your answer to the question? What ‘they’ do you think she’s talking about?
They are those who were against Charlie Kirk's message. Those who wanted him silenced, and are happy that he himself was silenced. It's kinda surprising something that obvious would require an explanation.
