The Sabbath was instituted at creation for mankind. The last mention of the Sabbath day is in Acts, when the apostles were taking the gospel to the Gentiles. (Not to be confused with Colossians 2:14-17; the handwriting of ordinances.)
Or is it?
Revelation 22:10-16 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
What are we called to?
- Be righteous still
- Be holy still
- Do His commandments
How are we to be righteous and holy?
- Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
- Leviticus 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.
- Nehemiah 9:14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant.
- Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
The Sabbath is
the holy day that God made a point to emphasize from the beginning.
The Sabbath is
the holy day that was changed to Sunday by man, thereby superseding God's authority. (Daniel 7:23-25)
Sunday sacredness is well-established in Christendom, negating God's fourth commandment.
What is the key issue of the end time? That of
worship.
What then could the worship issue of the end time be?
Could it be that the Sabbath commandment is the single worship issue of the end time? Could it be that God planned ahead for the Sabbath to be central to His plan of salvation from the foundation of the world?
The Sabbath
- Established at creation for mankind
- Sanctified by God
- Called holy
- Commanded to Remember
- Claimed by Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath
- Kept by Jesus
- Kept by the apostles before after the crucifixion
- Prophesied to be changed
- The call for holiness still
- Do His commandments, which includes the Sabbath
Sunday
- Cannot be established in scripture as commanded to be observed as a holy day
- <crickets>...
God established the Sabbath for mankind and called us to remember. It is His holy day of worship. He knew that it would be the central worship issue of the end time.
Sunday sacredness has been touted as "the Sabbath" for years. There is a movement on multiple fronts to bring it into law. It happened in the past, but was stopped short of law forcing observance. As prophesied, history will repeat itself. Only this time, you won't be able to buy or sell, and you may well be put to death, if you observe the Sabbath and not Sunday.
The question then is, when there comes a point when it does become legislation, will you, dear reader, obey God and not man?
It bears repeating:
Revelation 22:14-16 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
