Peter Cereta was lead singer for a good while, then Jason Scheff took over around 1986

Not familiar with that much of their album material,

They had a some big hits in the 1980s. Eg. You're the Inspiration, Hard to say I'm sorry, Will you still love me.

Thoughts on the band?

Your thread caught my eye. And I simply had to link to this Ukrainian band who do covers. They are...outstanding!

Chicago had a good sound. They used horns and more instruments than most, even a trombone which was highly unusual for a rock band. "25 or 6 to 1" was the hit I remembered without looking it up. "Saturday in the Park" and "if I leave you now" too, are ones I could hum now.
I saw them in concert once around 1982, and they put on an excellent show.

Jason Scheff has similiar vocal style and pitch to Petera Cereta, but not the same distinctive vocals obviously, that make Peter Cereta recognisable. I wonder if they deliberately wanted to replace him with someone who sounded almost the same which (if it was the the case) would not be a good idea as Cereta's distinctive vocal style came due to being in hospital with his jaw wired for a number of months earlier in his life, and you want your lead vocalist to have or develop his own style, not imitate the former lead singer.
