  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We Don’t Need Gun Control, We Need To Classify Gender Dysphoria As A Mental Illness Again

The transgender population is only a tiny percentage of the overall population yet within the tiny transgender population the number of mass shootings is indeed high. This was not an isolated incident:
You do not have data for that so you are spreading an ...untruth, or a purely biased opinion that is unsupported. The article you posted speaks of 5 shooters in 7 years. It does NOT show that within the trans community that the number of shootings is high. You should back that up with a study or admit your statement is wrong.

Data from research does show that transgender individuals are four times as likely to suffer violent victimization than cisgender people. Plus families with a transgender member are more likely to suffer from property violence.

Your attempt to make out that transpeople commit a high percentage of shootings is just bigotry and hate.

No. Other mental health disorders. If anything, it needs to be further studied.
The only thing the Trump Administration shut down faster and more thoroughly than the study of transgender people and gender identity was the Jan 6th insurrection prosecutions. The further study you want has been cancelled.
Furthermore, most trans people are VICTIMS of violence. Maybe I wasn’t clear.
And to the best of our understanding that increased violence is cause by the spreading of hatred about them, like the kind that is dripping all over the article in the OP.
And yes. I’ve been in a situation where a person was “misgendered” and they wanted my former coworker fired over it. So, so ridiculous.
I was thinking more close, but that's OK, it is fairly rare in society.

"Experts!" This guy is talking about "experts." How about the fact that all of humanity recognized a man as a man and a woman as a woman for thousands of years up until about five minutes ago when the "experts" suggested otherwise. Common sense is dying, and the left is killing it.

Many ancient cultures recognized something in between man and woman.

But hey, why pollute your “common sense“ with history.

Some people aren’t comfortable with transgendered people and it’s no surprise that have co morbid other disorders.
Some people aren’t comfortable with so many things. But being uncomfortable does not give them reason to make things up about them.

No. It’s not. Some people aren’t comfortable with transgendered people and it’s no surprise that have co morbid other disorders.
So what? That’s got nothing to do with gun violence.

They may not like hearing they really aren’t the opposite gender regardless of their so called “identity” but it is what it is.
I’m not sure what any of this has to do with painting them as being uniquely responsible for or overly represented in mass shootings. This is just plain old scapegoating. The biggest factor in gun violence in America is easy access to guns. Not trans people giving you the willies.

Nor should information be suppressed.

Two different things. I made no mention of information suppression.

That said, information which is factually incorrect should be labelled as such and disregarded.

That’s true. Most trans people aren’t violent but victims.

Completely accidental, it was over the phone.
Your co-worker tried to have someone fired for misgendering them over the phone? That does seem extreme for a one time mistake.
And, without sounding impolite, this person who identified as a trans woman, literally looked like a man in a dress, so it would be difficult for a person to know for sure how to address them.
That' wouldn't be particularly noticeable over the phone, would it? But if it was, the dress should be a clue.

That said, a lot of cis-gender women also apparently look like men in dresses, so there's that.

No. The coworker accidentally called the trans woman “sir” over the phone.

Well, a biological male having a male voice is normal.

To be fair, sometimes it’s obvious, sometimes it’s not.

Still awfully sensitive for a one time mistake.

So is having an indeterminate voice.
Well? I’ve been called ma’am on the phone countless times. I don’t throw a hissy fit because i know I’m a guy. Maybe some trans people can try that (not all, some)

MOD HAT ON

This thread is permanently closed for goading.

There are plenty of Disruptive Behavior comments in here complaining about the thread, so it’s clear this thread is making people miserable. We don’t need this thread anymore, we need to stop the suffering.
