Which is another absurd concept. One I'd never heard of actually). But just because a few people hold to a particular absurd position doesn't make it any less absurd.

It's like saying that wearing a cross around your neck is racist because the KKK used to burn them symbolically.
Ooooh! Which reminds me for those who aren't aware:

(Not to go off topic, just an interesting historical anecdote).

The KKK hood was used by the KKK because it mocked the Catholic faithful. The hood was used by the faithful during certain processions. The KKK is anti-Catholic, and the cross burning is a symbolic form of anti-Catholicism:

Capirote

Yes, the same hood is also used during Holy Week in Spain.

It can also be different colors such as blue or black or green.

And yes, the KKK is an anti-Catholic group, they don't even like central or Eastern Europeans because they aren't WASPS
(White Anglo-Saxon Protestants).

I'm such a nerd! heh heh

Correct?

If I understand @Tropical Wilds correctly...?
Regardless, other posters on this forum have verified my statement about the US having better freedoms of speech than the UK is correct. This whole back and forth about bacon was only to prove my point, which has been proven true.

That's not surprising.

Regardless, the UK could do better. Since they are OFFICIALLY a Christian country that should stand up for their beliefs and morals. Ya know?

I don't believe anyone has argued against that. Well, "better" is a subjective term, so some people might argue that the level of free speech allowed in the US is not necessarily a good thing, but it's inarguable that the US has more freedom of speech than the UK

I think you may have lost track of your own arguments lol. The bacon sidequest started with your claim in the second post of the thread about "Christian persecution" in the US, which then turned into a rant about how Muslims are so sensitive and intolerant that people can get arrested for liking bacon (follow the chain of references back from this post):
Well, apparently liking bacon is now a hate crime in the UK. So I will leave that there to show how sensitive and intolerant Muslims are.

Another thing that I find very interesting is how multiple people on this thread had posted about how speech that incites violence or disrupts the peace should be restricted. They also say that burning the flag is political speech. But if they actually had read the executive order they would find that Trump is specifically talking about burning the flag in such a way that incites violence. Trump is doing exactly what liberals say should happen. So why are they so opposed to it? Because Trump.

Yes, we in the good ol’ USA get to be much more offensive in our speech towards others, should we choose to do so.

Yes. Freedom of speech means YOU dont get to choose which speech YOU want protected and what YOU want regulated because YOU find offensive. Be thankful you live in a country where you can call the president a Nazi and nobody will arrest you in your home.

Nah, they'll just deny you entry into the country. This is one example of very many indeed: Australian travellers warned of US border phone searches

'The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has issued a warning to Australian travellers to the US as an increasing number of would-be visitors are being turned back at border control.

A French scientist was recently denied entry to the US after immigration officers found messages on his phone critical of President Donald Trump’s cuts to research programs.'

To be frank, however, that applies to non-citizens, whereas the lack of the First Amendment in other countries applies to citizens as well.

Christianity doesn't support freedom of speech though. Not as a moral tenet or core belief. The historical prevalence of blasphemy laws in officially Christian countries attests to that.

For instance, criminal laws in the UK only prohibited blasphemy against Christian beliefs until the early 2000s (and this was the reason the famous Salman Rushdie case was dismissed in the early 1990s). In Australia, similar laws are nominally in place at the state level although in practice never enforced.

Nevermind, I forgot you live in Australia. It is unfortunate that your country does not give you the same liberties that the US provides its citizens.

I wasn’t aware of that at all, interesting.

European Christianity doesn't support freedom of speech because Europeans doesn't support freedom of speech. Other than instructions on having self-control over your mouth, the Bible remains silent on the topic.

I think it is amazing how liberal white women know more about racism than the black men in this thread.
Why? You made clear you know more about the experience of women than women do despite not being a woman. You’ve made clear you are pretty solidly Ok with a demographic outside of the one being addressed being a better expert at that demographic than them.

Or is this not a case of what’s good for the gander being good for the goose? The goalposts move so rapidly it’s hard to keep up.

@Bradskii @Tropical Wilds

Getting back on topic. I stand by my original statement about how Americans can be proud to know that they have better free speech that the UK. So wave Old Glory with pride. Don't burn it.
I’m super proud that part of that free speech includes the right to burn a flag in protest (in a way consistent with local fire laws).

But I suspect the goalposts are about to do another little tap dance and when you say “I’m proud of our free speech,” you mean “I’m proud of the free speech I like to hear.”

I am proud of the free speech, even the speech I do not like. Remember, it is the left who tries to censor language they do not like. Again, I am proud that the US has better freedoms of speech that the UK.

Funny. I dont recall everything mentioning anything about women on this thread. Are you actually trying to pull the woman card as your qualification to whitesplain racism to me?
I very clearly did not do that and you very clearly are suffering from a case of selective memory that I do not. And grasping your pearls by accusing me of weaponizing my gender 30 seconds after you weaponized your and my skin color is a tad rich.
