CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The first thing I'm noticing is that the picture being used in the article must not be from the particular event in question..
This is the pic they used in the article:
However, a google reverse image search reveals...
The person in the picture from the article is most likely Antifa, but that was from some sort of protest that occurred in Seattle in 2024 from a place called "Cal Anderson Park"... it was from a KIRO local ABC affiliate article in Seattle.
While that doesn't mean that Antifa wasn't involved in this exchange, in the actual video from Crown Heights, I only see 4 people wearing "Black Bloc", and certainly wasn't the same people from the first picture they used.
I certainly don't like the commies any more than you do, but going "all-in" on a story like this just helps them because they can come back and point the fact the fact that the authors of this piece had to resort to cheap tactics (that didn't even get the location or year right) to try to make a point. You certainly don't beat Antifa by being even more dishonest than they are.

I don't know. Maybe they were there. Maybe it was reported to them by the local residents some of whom were saying "f--- antifa". Maybe they got that from a half dozen other sources who reported it. Why do you ask? Working on a little conspiracy theory?

Everybody knows this is very common in journalism. They do a story on Taylor Swift appearing somewhere, and they use an old photo of her from somewhere else. I guess if someone wrote a story about Elvis Presley and included a photo of him, you'd call shenanigans and say "this story can't be about Elvis. They included a photo of him looking young and he's been dead for decades!"
There were no cheap tactics. The photo was obviously taken in the daytime, and the video was obviously taken at night.

As a black man, I will say that the demographic that I despise the most are white liberals who pretend to be the white knight trying to rescue me from some imaginary boogieman that they envisioned in their minds. The photos weren't from the event in question. It wasn't established if Antifa was involved. It wasn't established that they were thugs, whatever that means. Nobody actually claimed to be a white savior.
I'm wondering if there was anything in that article that wasn't false, or speculation.
