Protesters heckle Vance, Hegseth, Miller as they get photo op with DC National Guard

Protesters booed and jeered Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller as they came to [Union] station, located blocks from the U.S. Capitol, to thank the troops. The crowd's chants drowned out the voices of the officials.

Vance and Miller dismissed the jeers of the protesters, which drowned out their press gaggle, calling them "crazy" and "communists."

Vance added that he believed that crime statistics do not report the full scope of crime on the streets, however he declined to talk about evidence that backed his claim up and told a reporter to "You just got to look around."

Several residents report seeing Uber and delivery drivers detained.

“Yesterday, my UberEats driver got arrested by ICE while he was delivering my food. I walked downstairs to pick it up and I noticed his location hadn’t changed in two or three minutes, and it was like two or three blocks away from my house,” said D.C. resident Tyler DeSue in a TikTok he posted on Sunday that went viral. “I stepped into the streets and I saw police lights … he was being questioned by eight or nine ICE officers.”

D.C. residents are reporting that they’re seeing fewer delivery drivers out and about ... And restaurants across the city saw a 25 percent drop in reservations in the days immediately after Trump federalized the city’s police forces

National Guard vehicle collides with civilian car near US Capitol, trapping one person

One person was trapped inside the car after the accident and had to be extricated by emergency responders, according to D.C. fire department spokesman Vito Maggiolo. The person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

A video posted online showed a tan-colored armored vehicle and a silver SUV with a crushed side. The military vehicle was twice the height of the civilian car.

He's right. We should just look around in SE, the high crime area of the District where his federal officers are afraid to go.

Oh look...a congressman, representing a district in Arizona, is introducing a bill to extend the "take overover" of D.C. to 6 months, citing "special conditons".

Say, who is representing the people of D.C.?

Under Washington’s Home Rule Act — which grants D.C. limited forms of self-governance — the president can take over the Metropolitan Police Department for up to 30 days if “special conditions of an emergency nature exist,” and the Senate and House must pass a joint resolution to extend that time frame any further. The bill, introduced Friday by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Arizona), seeks to extend not only the current federal takeover from 30 days to roughly six months, but also amend Section 740 of the Home Rule Act to apply to all future declared emergencies.

That's the glaring problem with this - no emergency actually exists, just the declaration.

...and if the POTUS plans to deploy the guard to Chicago or any other city, the Insurrection Act will have to be invoked.

Strong statements from the IL governor will probably be argued as an act of "rebellion."

In a scathing ruling, U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer in San Francisco noted Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have stated their intention to deploy National Guard troops to other cities across the country, including Oakland and San Francisco, and that raises concerns they are “creating a national police force with the President as its chief.”

Breyer did not require the 300 remaining troops to be withdrawn but pointed out they received improper training and ordered Trump’s Republican administration to stop using them “to execute the laws.” He set the order to go into effect Sept. 12.
