It’s my understanding Islam only does calligraphy for their artwork because Allah is entirely transcendent and wouldn’t take on human nature or something like that. Islam means submission.

For everyone who says that, I hope a Jew does replace them. We need more Jews and less of those.
It's about the Ten Commandments. They number the Commandments like some sects of Christianity, separating the "graven image" part from the "bowing down" part. Some sects of Islam take the "graven image" part very literally and very seriously, which is why there is little or no pictoral art in their culture.
I see a trend here... Cultures are all the same, and Islam and Christianity are the same... Do you think all planets are the same too? Maybe we can drop you off on Mars and you can tell us how much like earth it is.
If I may add, I don’t think Islam has the 10 commandments. They follow the Quran, not the Jewish Tanak or the Christian Bible, fwiw.
This is correct. Islam teaches that each prophet was given specific guidance and laws for the people of their time. With Muslims believing that Muhammad was the final prophet, they follow what is found in the Qur'an and Sunnahs to this day.
