The TV news I watch--which isn't all that much--tells me just the opposite. Caught a show on MSNBC recently where Steve Kornacki was explaining why the Republicans appeared to have a lock on the midterms.

All the way back to 1990. Wow.

They have done absolutely nothing useful since Trump was elected. They deserve the spot they're in

Democrats are currently disorganized and lack a clear leader or message. Some voters want to take action, while others prefer to stay quiet. Several figures like Cory Booker and Gavin Newsom seek prominence, but their main congressional leaders, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, are seen as uninspiring.

Having said all that, anyone who believes Democrats will not gain in the midterms either lacks understanding of American political history over the past 50 years or is disregarding established facts out of unfounded optimism.

The Democratic Party is a mess.
It's not new...

Part of me wonders if AOC could be that, at some point. I'm not entirely sure she's there yet, but she does seem to have the potential.
I don’t think there will be enough voters, even in her party to bring a win for her.

Not because she is a woman, but because her policies are out of touch with majority of her own base

What specific policies are you referring to?

Seems to me, AOC, much like Bernie has been, could become a strong proponent for working people issues. I think she may need a bit more experience in public service before she makes a run for the Oval Office, but I'd like to see her try. Certainly, the Democratic party, and US politics in general, could use some new, younger blood.

-- A2SG, I'd also love to see Katie Porter make a run for it as well...and she's ready now, no more experience necessary, just a bigger white board....

Wait...you think Bernie and aoc are "out of touch" with their base?

I am VERY curious what evidence you have of such a thing....considering the immense crowds they got on their tours

Trumps campaign’s accurately demonstrated that immense crowds don’t equate to equivalent levels of votes.

Bernie and Aandrea combined have less than 40% of their party. In addition the self titled Democratic Socialist are promoting an agenda that has less than 20% approval nationwide.

You cannot win a majority when you appeal only to a minority.

I 100% support them running. It will mean another Republican win IMHO

Which doesn't answer the question.
Yes it does. When you push Democratic Socialism, and Democratic Socialism represents 20%. That is being out of touch

Do I really have to explain that to you?

We're talking about actual policies, not some stereotype. But never mind, I get it.

The policies of the Democratic socialist is what’s being rejected by their base in droves. But never mind I get it.

Can you name the policies? That was the question.
Sure - and here is the answer in their own words:

Don't forget - I 100% support her running. Alexandria would be the biggest gift the whomever her opponent is that the Republicans could ever hope for. She is good for the Republican Party I support and endorse her campaign running.

OK those are the DSA policies. How do they compare with the policies the Berniecrats are pushing on the road? Which ones are out of touch with their base?

That would be a mistake I don't think she will make. The place for AOC is Speaker of the House--a much more powerful position in terms of policy than President.

Let me tell you what I do know -

1. Bernie is a self described Socialist Democrat
2. Alexandria is a self described Socialist Democrat
3. I posted the link to the Socialist Democratic Party Website that they both self identify with.
4. The Democrats are loosing support as evidence by their historic low approval ratings.
4. Alexandria, while the most popular - does not hold the majority even in her own party

Many of their base are leaving because they say their party is out of touch

Enjoy exploring - perhaps you will do something no democrat has seemingly figured out yet;

aaah, a MAGA analysis

We are to judge not by voters but by perceived crowd size.

It is quite possible that a far-left Democrat will win the nomination, resulting in a true landslide, not a close win as we have had in the past few elections. Think McGovern or Mondale winning 1-3 states.

I think Newsome would be much more attractive to most democrats.
I have viewed several interviews featuring Rep James Talarico. While I may not align with many of his policy positions, he offers new energy to the Democratic Party. In contrast to many Democrats—excluding former President Biden—who may be hesitant to discuss their faith, Talarico, as a seminarian, articulates biblical principles confidently and takes pride in his Christian heritage. This distinctive approach sets him apart from most Democratic candidates.

He may be too young for 2028, but it would be interesting to see him as a Democratic nominee in 2032 or 2036. One challenge the Democratic Party faces is a reluctance to discuss Christian faith, which can deter some Christian voters who otherwise support many of their policies. Perhaps Talarico could offer a new perspective on this issue within the party.

But you can't say why, or which policies they are unhappy with, or where they are going. I belong to the DSA myself (just so my name will be on the right list) but it may not survive as such--the rank and file are still too bourgeous to form the basis of a real labor party.
Enjoy exploring - perhaps you will do something no democrat has seemingly figured out yet;
A few have figured it out, that's why Bernie can draw big crowds
LOL.... oh, you are serious......
Absolutely--the only route to success for labor is to gain control of the House--give it four to six years. You're winning the culture war and at the same time discrediting the progressive Democrats who have stood in the way of Bernie & Co. What are you going to do for an encore? That's something you should explore.
