For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
The word in Genesis is "erets"... "land." If God did it worldwide, He would have said "Tevel" ..."world." You just changed His word to make it more acceptable to you. You do not believe what Moses wrote.

Why not just accept it His way? And yes, the flood story includes a reference to the sky as a solid object with windows in it through which rain falls. When God uses figurative language, that doesn't mean it's false.

You have no comment to:
1: all flesh died that moved upon the earth
2: And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
3: All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
4: every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

I'm pointing out that God used the word "erets" (land), and you changed it to "earth." For the obvious reasons. If God had meant "world" or "Earth" He would have used the Hebrew word for "world"... "tevel." You changed it to make it more acceptable to you.

And again:
Genesis 1:1-3 NRSV
[1] In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, [2] the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. [3] Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

Genesis 1:1-3 NRSVUE
[1] When God began to create the heavens and the earth, [2] the earth was complete chaos, and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. [3] Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

The Bible does not say how long the Earth was formless and void before God began to create it.

God in all his wisdom and knowledge would know what word to use.

I don’t get your point. When was the earth formless and void?

God in all his wisdom and knowledge would know what word to use.
Yep, and He used "land", not "world." Maybe you should just accept it as He said it.

Yep. Land would be the correct word. You can’t really have a flood in the ocean. Only the land would have been flooded.

But not the whole world. Why not just accept it as He said it was? If it was worldwide, He would have said it was. The fact that the flood account depicts the sky as a solid dome with windows in it through which rain falls, tells us that this was never meant to be a literal history.

When God began to create it, it was formless and void, but the text doesn't say how long it was in that state before God began.

[1] When God began to create the heavens and the earth, [2] the earth was complete chaos, and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. [3] Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Yeah not the whole world just all the land on earth was flooded.

Yeah not the whole world just all the land on earth was flooded.
If that was the case He would have said so. In that case He would have said the world was flooded, not just "land." There's no way to parse one's way out of accepting that God did not say the world was flooded.

The earth was formless and void while a wind from God swept of over the face of the water is what it says

Indeed. This is the kind of thing that we often see from KJV-only people. Neglecting what the words actually mean in Hebrew leads one astray.

I gave you the context...now take the words - but always understand context first. Always context first (since thats most important) - then the words.

The entire land was flooded...every living creature that was on the land died. Noah brought 2 of each for a reason.

Don't be crabby - be smart.

You gave me your revision of His words. As you learned, God didn't say that the flood was worldwide. Instead of "the world" (tevel) He said "the land" (erets). You might not realize that "erets" means an area, like "erets Israel" (the land of Israel). But there it is. Instead of relying on your own wishes, why not just accept God's word?

Don't be a scoffer; listen to Him.

I gave you "THE WORD" not my words....and just as you said the flood covered all "the land".

As you should know that if you say there was a world wide flood - you are obviously just referring to the land of the world flooding.

God in his wisdom said the Land was flooding....not the world as we would say.

So you are correct...Noahs flood only flooded "the land" of the earth.

Don't be crabby - be smart.

Your word was "the whole world." As you learned, the word used was "erets", which was used for localities, like "erets Israel", meaning "the land of Israel." The word for "the whole world" is "tevel." I realize that's not what you want. But that's how it is.
