We don't need spin doctors--or should I say spin celebrity lawyers--to lie to us. We're smarter than that.

And now Trump has hired a new economics statistician who wrote Project 2025 and is sure to invent whatever statistics it takes to turn our country into a "Christian nationalist nation" (those were his own words I read.)

Apparently, everyone except DC residents know that crime is at a 30 year low.

People are bad at understanding trends.

Case in point.

Violent crime has (generally) been trending downwards in the US since the early 1990s. It's now at roughly half of the rate (per capita) that it was 30 to 35 years ago. Same thing with property crimes, they're down by three fifths compared to the early 1990s.

Yet, the public perception of violent crime is that it is increasing (both on a local and national basis). There has been a growing public perception that crime is increasing for the last 25 years.

This belief is in defiance of the actual facts of the matter. See this Pew article for data:

Once again, the plural of anecdotes is not data. I'm reminded of a quote from Men In Black:

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."

Yes, crime occurs. And yes, crime occurs in Washington DC. But, neither the city of Washington itself nor the District of Colombia is particularly notable for either the total volume of crimes or the rate at which they occur.

If the Trump Administration was serious about actually reducing crime rates in high-crime areas, then they'd do vastly better by concentrating on about 2 dozen other cities and counties before they looked at Washington. And, they wouldn't be sending in soldiers to do the job of the police.

I believe that if he could concentrate on other cities, he would. Unfortunately, DC is the only city where he can legally do what he is doing. Hopefully the results will be an example for those other cities to follow.

Joe Biden and the rest of the leaders of the Democratic Party has been lying to the American people for many, many, many decades. The progressive liberal mainstream media promotes and pushes those lies as truth.

I believe the biggest crimes are being committed at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
How many DC residents accept illegal gifts of $400 million airplanes?

Vague. Irrelevant. Meaningless. Claim, not evidence. Off topic.

It wouldn't matter if 80% of DC residents said crime is bad, if someone's website data says otherwise. They could visit DC for 6 days and get mugged 12 times, and still insist there's not a crime problem because the website they go to says there isn't.

Pay no mind to the man behind the curtain, and dont trust your lying eyes. The gaslight attempts are amazing. I almost guarantee that everyone who believes the garbage that crime is down, has not been in DC in the last 10 years. Not to mention that the 30+ percent drop in violent crime was based on the supers spike that occurred post covid. I would ask liberals to let me know when the DC crime drops to pre covid numbers. Even then, they were not that good.

I, myself, am rather leery of sites that seemingly use SPORTSBALL language to deliver their stories.
”Obliterates”?
“It’s NEVER ENOUGH. You tell these families that crime has dropped. You tell the mother of the intern who was shot going out for McDonald’s near the Washington Convention Center, ‘oh, crime is down.’
You tell the kid who was just beat to hell and back with a severe concussion and a broken nose, ‘crime is down.’
No, that falls on deaf ears. My ears are deaf to that and that’s why I fight the fight. Thank you.”

Providing a rationale for more federal LEOs that is fraught with such an emotional appeal is nowhere near “obliterating“.

Still long for the cliches? For example, when Trump speaks the politically correct major media phrase is that he "lashes out."
