We understand the greek word "anamnesis" as bringing past events into the present. It isn't simply remembering the events as in a memorial.

Thank you Fr Matt.
Some further questions if you don't mind... This has been on my mind for some time now...I am asking in order to adjust my thinking if necessary, or to confirm my thinking.
The eucharist is a sacrament Yes?
Sacraments are signs yes?
If these are correct, could you give me your view of what it is a sign of please?

yes

yes

God at work in His creation, often also with His creation
HMMM, ok. Thank you Father Matt.
Last question......Which is the focus for me...
That answer could somewhat go with my thinking on it.
I am just going to ask, hoping it is not a way off way to look at things.
Could it be appropriate to think in terms of calling on God to remembrance?

Such as found here

This sign for God to remember to keep a promise...There is activity, or work involved in this remembering of God it seems....

Gen 9:12 ¶ And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

Thank you prodromos. Yes I got to that in building upon this.....I know what forum I am on, so being careful in asking this. I do appreciate the answers. If at anytime I ask something inappropriate to answer, I respect being told so.

yes-ish, but not like we remember where we potentially could forget.

Yes-ish? Well thats something. Maybe to clarify...When someone calls on God to remember something, I think it would be an act of faith to do so. So, God remembering a thing is likewise.
In short. Calling on God to remember is an act of Faith, God remembering is an act of his faithfulness concerning an issue..... Forgetting might be more associated with lacking faith, or at least being doubtful. or even to wrong motive....on our part

except that we are not God and have no idea what it means for God to remember

Thank you Fr Matt
no problem! it’s tricky because a lot of the language we use about God is as close as we can understand with our limited minds.

Oh yeah. I was just attempting to give clarity to how I kind of seen it. It is hard to do things like that. Not just for my own thoughts alone did I ask. I also ask to understand how I might respond to many things said about "Catholicism" in forums. I would love to see you all help us non Catholics that are ecumenical minded to answer them.
Thank you Fr Matt.

to answer who?

no problem!
Just what some say about some of this stuff in protestant forums.... inaccurate descriptions of your practices of faith. Not so much liturgical, and sacramental protestants, but plenty of others out there reject all of that. Seeking honest discussion when this comes up. Some are not intentional in this, but still it is not accurate.
A very base idea of Gods actions in remembering, by a sign, can be a shift. But LOL only if it is in itself an accurate idea in the first place on my part..
