It would seem so.
So, the truth will out. That is why you all appear to hate our country so much. You’re all in love with dictators and monarchs and those pesky rebels like the founding fathers need to be done away with.

I took a picture of it so I can frame it on my wall for all to see the true leftist agenda, or repost it if you remove it.

I don't hate our country, just the slavedriving confederates and their revivalists.

I’m sorry, did you post that link I asked for where Hegseth said he wanted to reinstate slavery? I’ve been waiting for a couple days now.

I oppose all "neo-confederate" activity. Where do you think my avatar came from?

Slavery is (already) legal for only the Government to engage in.

That is true, but they’ll go to the greatest lengths to deny it. And to prevent it from slipping through their grasps.

And I oppose everyone who tries to cancel everyone. It’s really clever of the left to remove all black and Native American entrepreneurs in our history. Now nobody will know their names.

But back to the discussion, link please. Or it is just your very uninformed opinion and not worth noting.

Was your avatar supposed to be worth my attention?

The only one getting cancelled are confederate traitors.

What link have you requested from me. I recall none.

Back in 2020, when the BLM protests turned to removing confederate monuments like the one in the OP, there was a surge in neo-confederate apologetics. I adopted my avatar in opposition to the neo-confederate arguments. (SHerman is my spirit animal. The south must not rise against the US again.)

The link to where Hegseth said they were going to reinstate slavery. I’ve been asking for 3 days now and nobody has provided one.

I don’t think you have to worry about the south rising up again. Though I worry about the Dems keeping the blacks down in the present. Keeping the ones in poverty in perpetual poverty without giving them a way out, telling them who they have to vote for or they can’t be black any longer, telling them they are too stupid to get IDs so they can vote. Things like that.

It was put before the people who experience it - who lived through the trauma of war. The President at the time along with Congress said yes -

who are we to reverse the sentiment , over 100 years later of the people who lived through it? Perhaps they saw something we didn't.

BTW - it was and act of Congress working with the President who built (by a Jewish artist) and placed the monument. Who removed it? Congress? no -

No, it wasn't put before "the people who experience it - who lived through the trauma of war." It was passed 50 years after the end of the war, essentially by the children of those that fought -- most of those who had fought were in their graves by that time. The average life expectancy for men in 1914 was only about 58.65 years; yes, some were left who were over 65 years old (who lied about their age and joined at 15, in the last year or so of the war) but most had passed on.

In fact, that rough time period (early 1900s) was a time of "Southern revival," a time when most of the statues and monuments to the Confederates were built and installed. It wasn't being done by those who fought in the war.

Isn’t that the point of this little hate-fest of a thread, that you are oh so worried that Trump is going to reinstate slavery? And the worry about the south must not rise up again? If it’s not, what’s all the uproar about?

It's not legal, that's been our point. Human trafficking (slavery) rose to the the highest levels since the Civil War under Biden and the Democrats.

While slavery is deplorable, so too is abortion. I don't think there should be a monument for anyone who promotes or promoted abortion.

If Congress and the President made decisions 100 years ago, does that mean we cannot change them today? If this were the case, it would prevent us from amending the Constitution, updating existing laws, or revoking executive orders issued by previous presidents.

If we apply the same logic used to justify Confederate monuments, then any state today—such as Governor Newsom declaring secession from the United States—could do so, and after losing a civil war, be honored with a monument for reconciliation at Arlington, despite the defeat.

This approach suggests that those who commit treason should be honored instead of punished.

You’re from Oklahoma. By your logic, should Oklahoma put a Timothy McVeigh monument in front of the federal building?

The military itself points out the monument's sanitized and mythologized view of the South, caricatures of black people, and 'Lost Cause' ideology.
Congress chose to have it removed.

This thread started as a love-fest for its restoration, and those of us who felt its removal was justified are appalled.

That's it; that's the uproar.

The elaborately designed monument offers a nostalgic, mythologized vision of the Confederacy, including highly sanitized depictions of slavery.

Two of these figures are portrayed as African American: an enslaved woman depicted as a “Mammy,” holding the infant child of a white officer, and an enslaved man following his owner to war. An inscription of the Latin phrase “Victrix causa diis placuit sed victa Caton” (“The victorious cause was pleasing to the gods, but the lost cause to Cato”) construes the South’s secession as a noble “Lost Cause.”

Those who enjoy this "own the libs" moment should consider that the cause this celebrates was met with divine displeasure as stated on the monument itself. It was pleasing only to Men.

One event happened solo in the US.

The other in Germany

Why would anyone in the US build a monument to the German army to promote reconciliation?

Reconciliation of what?

Nope. But good attempt to Segway in an off topic jab.

The conflict did not occur solely on U.S. soil. During the Civil War, the nation was divided, with one part being the United States of America and the other the Confederate States of America. Similar to conflicts with foreign nations such as Germany, Americans fought against what was then considered a separate entity—the Confederate States of America.
