Yes and without that example of living the teachings the words and conduct become out of line. Paul uses that the members were his reference to telling the truth because he lived it.
He was, indeed, a fine example of the Christian life.
But Jesus is the one we are to emulate.

Yes and this is why Paul says he is an ambassador of Christ and that his appeal is on Christs behalf.

I think some may get confused with this and think that the person leading or standing on Christs authority is doing so on their own authoity. But it is clear that there is no authority but Christs and it is this authority that the disciples were standing on.

Paul qualifies this with the fruits this kind of leader and authority should have. Like being above reproach or hospitable. Not harsh but doing so out of love and kindness that others may also be saved.

We know by their fruits and when the authority is from Christ the fruits are seen by all and this is the reference Paul speaks of in qualifying him and others as ambassadors on Christs behalf.
