  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes and without that example of living the teachings the words and conduct become out of line. Paul uses that the members were his reference to telling the truth because he lived it.
He was, indeed, a fine example of the Christian life.
But Jesus is the one we are to emulate.

Yes and this is why Paul says he is an ambassador of Christ and that his appeal is on Christs behalf.

I think some may get confused with this and think that the person leading or standing on Christs authority is doing so on their own authoity. But it is clear that there is no authority but Christs and it is this authority that the disciples were standing on.

Paul qualifies this with the fruits this kind of leader and authority should have. Like being above reproach or hospitable. Not harsh but doing so out of love and kindness that others may also be saved.

We know by their fruits and when the authority is from Christ the fruits are seen by all and this is the reference Paul speaks of in qualifying him and others as ambassadors on Christs behalf.
