I believe it connects to that next statement. That it's better to remain faithful to the lost cause than to win.
Perhaps we should also honor the Nazis then? I don't think so.

Ding ding ding - the NAZI card has arrived.

How many Nazi's were born and raised in the US and fought and died on US soil?

Apples and Oranges - very flawed response IMHO

Thank you. Since they are removing all "names, symbols, displays, monuments and paraphernalia"

Will they be digging up the bodies, or just removing their headstones making them unmarked graves? There is an entire section of Arlington dedicated to the 482 Confederates buried there. Including Moses Jacob Ezekiel the artist who did the monument.
I'd be OK with that.
How about Oak Woods Cemetary in Chicago where there are 4,000+ buried with grave markers and a memorial.

How about Hollywood Cemetary? 18,000 headstones various smaller monuments, when will they be removed.

The list goes on
Are those DOD property?

According to Wikipedia, about 290,000.
290,000 people who were born and raised in the US fought and died against Americans on US soil as NAZI"s

Please enlighten us where those battle fields were located.

technically "fascists" as they weren't in the Bavarian fascist party. (And are you not aware of the thread subject?)

We're talking about the slaveholders' rebellion where the fascist confederates fought to maintain human bondage as an economic system.

No it is not apples and oranges. The principle is the same, remaining faithful to the lost cause.

Why should that be celebrated? Homegrown terrorists also if being born and raised here makes a difference.

Does the Right have a soft spot for insurrectionists and rebels?

One event happened solo in the US.

The other in Germany

Why would anyone in the US build a monument to the German army to promote reconciliation?

Reconciliation of what?
Does the Right have a soft spot for insurrectionists and rebels?
Nope. But good attempt to Segway in an off topic jab.

Maybe they're laying the groundwork for a future memorial to those who participated in the attempted insurrection on January 6th.

-- A2SG, wouldn't even surprise me at this point....

It is not off topic. What would anyone build a monument to the confederate army to promote reconciliation?
Might as well build for Timothy McVie. And yes, January 6th "patriates".

That is part of the revisionist agenda also.
"Slavery wasn't so bad. They had it pretty good"
"Confederates were noble freedom fighters."
"January 6th patriates also".

You don't see the twisted pattern?

Bringing in Nazi's into the conversation is COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC.

The President of the United State AND Congress bilaterally agreed to consign the monument from a Confederate Officer and gave is a place among 482 Confederate soldiers in a National Graveyard as an act of reconciliation.

109 years later you're trying to second guess him? and Congress? Why?

1914 Democratic President Woodrow Wilson, in commemorating the monument said:
  • Reconciliation and Closure: Wilson declared, “This chapter in the history of the United States [is] closed and ended,” urging Americans to turn toward the future while honoring the past.
  • Democratic Spirit: He praised the democratic nature of the gesture, noting that only in a democracy could former adversaries come together in mutual respect.
  • Shared Sovereignty: Wilson emphasized that Americans are not subjects to rulers but sovereign citizens, capable of understanding and sympathizing with one another.
  • Symbolic Acceptance: He accepted the monument “in the name of the great Government” as a symbol of a reunited people, not as a glorification of the Confederacy but as a recognition of shared national identity.

Notable Excerpt

“My privilege is this, ladies and gentlemen: To declare this chapter in the history of the United States closed and ended, and I bid you turn with me with your faces to the future, quickened by the memories of the past, but with nothing to do with the contests of the past…” — Woodrow Wilson, 1914
