Is the love of God isolating from this of neighbor ?

Hello.

I have the sensation the nearer i try and make myself from God, the more isolated i become from men.
Do you think the same, that it's possible it's not a mere sensation, please ?

After all, we live in dechristianised societies.
If societies reject God... This could bring about that, couldn't it ?

“In the world but not of it” is a common belief among Christians. Sometimes it’s called “separate”. The core concept is that we need to live in society but we hold ourselves apart because Satan’s temptations are often overwhelmingly hard to ignore. The more you see sin, the more it becomes the norm, the easier it is to pass it off as increasingly acceptable.

As we grow in our spirituality, becoming conformed to the likeness of Christ, the more sin should bother us and the more we might tend to isolate ourselves, but God calls us to be among men. We are still sinners, but we have the Holy Spirit to guide us, and the great commission is only one of three commandments the Lord has given us, and as disciples, one we can only accomplish when we are “In the world but not of it”.

I agree with you, new dawn. Your ideas are clear. But my quetionning was slightly different. That is, when we spiritually grow, do you feel some distance appearing with some people. I meant : Do you feel more distance with people, the more friendship you tie with God ? And i meant also : Does the potential distance people keep with God become some distance too, but with you ?

I hoped part of my post spoke to that question, there is no doubt that the more you comply with the Holy Spirit and repent and try to put sin from your life, the more you’ll want to spend time with God and other like-minded individuals. That is often my strong desire.

I’m sure that as you grow in faith towards God, the more you’ll feel like you’re growing away from others, and they might feel a distancing, but might not understand why.

Yes, it did. In France, we say i saw the empty half of the glass, not the full half. Please excuse me

Yes, thank you. That's part of what i feel.
Actually, i was feeling too a distancing whose origin is to find in a worldly spirit of some non believers.. And was suggesting such distance is inevitably happening when you reach a certain level of spirituality. They might think it's the opposite that happen, since you could be made able to speak to wordly persons as well. Seems to me, yet, that the story of Jesus displays how you grow rejected from the world as long as you are christianly spiritualized, however skillful you become to understand and make yourself understand from the world

Before I can answer, can you tell me if the distancing you feel is something you desire, or if you feel it is a distraction? The only reason I mentioned being in the world but not of it is because that is what Jesus calls us to do as part of the great commission. The pastor at my church tells us each week when the service is over that we gathered for worship for the renewing of our spirits, and at the end of that time we now scatter into the world to do the will of God. So, for me, as much as I love being with those who are of one heart and mind, I know that what God really wants me to do is spread that love and peace to others so they can experience it, too.

I am not sure of anything I’ve said speaks to your questions, but I can certainly understand how you are feeling.

Hello, new dawn
i happened to trigger this distancing in some period of my life, as i needed a bit hindsight. It has nothing to do with distraction. It happens currently and in some other period of my life when i felt next to God.

Let me please tell a short story.

It starts with a little crude joke :
"Peter tells Paul that masculin farts are always noisy. Only homosexuals perform silent ones.
At hearing Peter, Marilyn spontaneously reacts : How specially virile you are, Peter !"
Sorry for the crudeness of the joke.

i introduced my story with this joke that's an example of joke a little child does not necessarily understand, like many jokes only grown ups (or teenagers) understand.
Actually, it seems to me only teenagers would find the joke funny. True grown ups have learnt from true children what is funny and what's not.
Now, nature (farts) is not really funny.

But there are some grown ups that perpetuate a kind of joking (this or other types of jokes) that remains "above" the understanding of children.
I often wonder whether the perpetuaters of such joking are harmoniously coping with their nature

To end up, i think Jesus wouldn't have smile at my joke
The pastor at my church tells us each week when the service is over that we gathered for worship for the renewing of our spirits, and at the end of that time we now scatter into the world to do the will of God. So, for me, as much as I love being with those who are of one heart and mind, I know that what God really wants me to do is spread that love and peace to others so they can experience it, too.
You are right to listen to your pastor
Thank you

Actually, our love grows more for each other. Our desire is to please our Father and to do His will. Jesus Christ of Nazareth said this :

“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

This means we put on the "full armor of God" and make disciples from this harvest and grow His Kingdom. Any diversion from His mandate would not be in His will.

Be blessed.

Hello Maria thank you.
Alas, it's long ago since i diverged.
i stand contented with my giving example (when the behavior is really exemplary ;))
and i excuse myself of my little zeal by saying to myself : people have already made their choice of mind and beliefs. Trying to force their mind would only make them dug their heels in their positions
Be blessed.
Be blessed as well
