I didn't ask you what you know, I asked you what you think.
I'm sorry that you are not satisfied with my posts.
I think a lot of people losing their jobs wasn't the goal, and turned out to be a big flaw in the plan. And I don't see employees having to do the work of others as a positive. In other words, if it's supposed to be a crew of 5 and now it's only a crew of 2 or 3, that means they have to work much harder.
I think this is where automation comes in.

I'm just striving for accuracy.

We're still quite a ways from robots making Big Macs. 70% of the time they can't even get their ice cream machine to work.
When a wage increase in fast food has been discussed in the past, replies routinely included pictures like this:

That's all pretty hypothetical, given that you can't come up with any actual numbers.

Fast food was an entry level job for high school students still living at home.

The appeal to customers was cheap junk food served fast.

Now it's wait a long time for expensive junk food in smaller portions.

Eventually fast food is going to go the way of Blockbuster and Circuit City.

It still is. Do you believe that those employees at $20 an hour are all full timers?

Thats 18,000 fewer jobs to be had for t he temporary workers, the teens and college students to have.

This is such nonsense. Fast food was never primarily an entry-level job for high schoolers.

Under your theory, who was supposed to staff the restaurant during the weekdays? Who was supposed to open early mornings? Who was supposed to close late nights? Kids who had class from 8-3 every day, and then homework and maybe some sort of sports or other extra-curricular? How's that supposed to work?

The reality is that, for regular fast food joints, high schoolers have never been in a position to do anything more than augment the adult staff. The only places run predominantly by high schoolers are seasonal shops only open during the summer. A quick glance around any fast food place ought to quickly dash this fantasy of yours.

The study reveals what conservatives have been saying for years.

Nobody was surprised that total sector employment took some non-zero hit. A couple percent seems like a worthwhile tradeoff.

It was in the several years that I worked fast food. With the exception of managers, most of the crew were teenagers.

17 to 20 year olds and housewives made up most of the morning crew.

I still usually see mostly teenagers and housewives.

So what was your point?
My point was that automated tools in the kitchen, ordering kiosks and other items like that can help the reduced staff reach the required levels of productivity without overtaxing them.

IOW, not high schoolers still living at home.

I still usually see mostly teenagers and housewives.

A woman working a job outside the home is, by definition, not a "housewife".

Ordering kiosks only cover the front counter cashier position for non cash paying customers. They don't cover the drive thru position and they don't cover the food handling positions. The food handling process is extremely complex. And I found the drive thru position more difficult than the food handling position.

Teenagers still living at home. The fully established completely on their own adult with rent, utilities, car payments, auto insurance payments etc, was rare. Outside of being a manager.

A housewife in this case is a married woman who doesn't have to work to pay the bills.

At this point, I'll reiterate that the choice between perfection and inaction is a false dichotomy.

I thought those jobs were just "burger flippers" with no requirement for training or skills. Is that why you sneer at those workers? Because you weren't very good at it?

Still no numbers, no actual data, just magical thinking.

California's dramatic fast food wage hike may have backfired, according to a new economic study – wiping out an estimated 18,000 jobs across the state in just one year.

The research, published this month by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), analyzed the impact of Assembly Bill 1228, which mandated a $20 hourly minimum wage for fast food workers at large chains starting April 1, 2024.

According to the economists behind the study, fast food employment in California dropped by 3.2 percent, while jobs in the same sector grew slightly across the rest of the U.S.

Not surprised.
Isn't it dastardly that business' put profits over people? Capitalism has a long road to go before it changes its ways. And let's not forget these jobs are summer jobs that are not meant for people to rely on for making a living. Consumers will get a better paid, higher quality staff member to serve them (and they won't have to rely on tips so it's a win for the customer as well).
