Great puzzle piecing of news and bible verses.
There is no "the antichrist" however. There are many antichrists.
For generations the US has been manufacturing apocalyptic signs such as weakening the atmosphere so the "sun can hurt mankind."
Trump may (or may not) be the manufactured antichrist, but there are many antichrists biblically.
Conflating the man of sin or the man of perdition with the references to an antichrist is kind of like taking all the references to Mary in the bible and saying it's about one person.

Well, without context, you can apply it to every war or conflict or natural catastrophe ever. But in that case, you made it not very useful. Surely not too useful for Thessalonians.

You need to start with "when", instead of "where". Again, look at what you are reading - a letter to Thessalonians. Paul is talking to them, not to us.
If you will look for the verse to be fulfilled in the 21st century, of course you will get wrong ideas, like that it is the USA or Australia or Switzerland or whatever.

It's meant for the entire world worshipping the fake Christ and buying into the fake peace he brings. And then bam, the true Christ returns and with that destruction.
