False messiahs

Mathew 24:5 says “For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many”. There are a lot of people that claim to be the Messiah nowadays. I found this one website here where someone claims to be god incarnate. Pretty sad. May the lord bless these individuals and bring them to the light.

Amen. I don't think people who claim to be the Messiah nowadays are all that interesting. It's the ones who only care about themselves, which is a lot. That is what makes the world unsafe. Ego is a killer.

Matthew 24:4 is speaking about during the tribulation when the beginning of birth pangs begin. It is not talking about now. Even though there are small similar events like wars and people claiming to be Jesus, etc..

It is part of the signs that will precede Jesus' return

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

This would be during the 7 year tribulation which is the 7 years that happen before the return of Jesus. And the world is not now in the 7 year tribulation. This time period will began with the signing by Israel a covenant for seven years with the man of sin/king of the north. This is the event that inaugurates the Tribulation period.

Now during the church age there will be events on a smaller and less intense scale, that will give an example of what will be coming. Like false messiahs, earth quakes, wars, false prophets, etc...

And where in the Bible does it say the signing of this agreement by Israel begins the seven year tribulation?

Others believe the "he" in the verse refers to Jesus, who establishes a new covenant with humanity through his sacrifice. I guess we’ll have to wait and see who’s right.
