I believed. Instantly changed. Baptised by the Holy Spirit. No longer alone in my heart. The Spirit of Christ is "in me."
We may engage in various exercises after the fact, but those are certainly not meant to condemn anyone to hell for not doing it a certain way nor not doing it at all. That whole notion is utterly ridiculous, and a typical religious LIE.
And I'd say the same things about many of the notions that have crept into various congregations. They have turned into tools to divide and conquer and condemn. Ugly practices, all, if that's at the heart of any of it.
Not a single one of those actions justified anyone on the INSIDE.
God's Love changes us, and His Love never ends, nor does His Mercy ever end
Oooops, somebody did something wrong, a hair was not fully immersed! Boy, that's trouble huh? That person could go to hell!
Such petty games. We unfortunately end up in that game too. I was water baptised 3 times, just to make sure I had it right. Once as a child in the ALC, once when coverted to RCC, and once, fully immersed, in the charismatic arena.
In retrospect I was sorely misled, in at least 2 out of the 3 times. I don't think God condemned me before or after to start with.
How about you Dan? Do you use baptisO to condemn yourself or others? Does it make you fear? Or make you feel powerful, that you have it right?
