We actually took a short trip to Sweden last year, part of our preparation for our own upcoming move and mission (to Germany no less) and can see this, and we are too, optimistic that the younger generations in Sweden and around the North Sea Baltic region are opening back up to the church and worship! At least that's what we seemed to see, there and all over in different countries, Lutheran, Catholic, Orthodox, all kinds.

It was unexpected and pleasant surprise, we even learned a wee bit of Swedish as part of a Bible translation class and it does even seem like the forums, Tiktok and Snap-chat, Instagram or wherever the kids are meeting online (we're sort of in that generation but never got so much into social media landscape ourselves), they're talking about Bible study and what the church, the Lord and fellowship mean to them. So I think, like one of our pastors always like to say, cautious optimism at least is in our order!

We're in fact preparing to head to Germany ourselves, a permanent move like so many of the mission families from America going "over there" but it was made possible because the younger generation wants to be active in the church again. And we're glad to help them! We helped raise funds and support and now we're helping lay the foundation and construction for a new rural church out in the "German boonies" near the Schwarzwald. Boonies as in, we're starting the preparations flying out this week, and between all the issues with staying connected (not to mention the roaming out there) we may not even be able to log back on for a few weeks or months.

But this is how it often happens, the younger generations feeling something missing and want to re-connect. And we're excited to help! We're from Iowa originally, my family moving there from Texas before I was born. And with cities with names like Bettendorf and Oelwein you can guess where a lot of Hawkeyes are from, we have some schnitzl and sauerkraut on both sides of our family and hubby was even able to use his roots to secure citizenship! But it's ultimately the excitement and anticipation of our distant ancestral cousins over there, that's inspired us to listen to our pastor's calls and join the ones making the move. And we're excited too.
That`s interesting, I have lived in UK about 20 years and Denmark 15, and moved to Denmark in -97. To UK in 2010. People here even the churches seem lukewarm at best but now I have not been in many. A long story. Not nice experiences here. It is terribly difficult to find a born again church! At least where more than two are. i have relatives all over US as relatives emigrated in the 1800 mostly mid west ironically. I have never been content to just go to church, sit and all that I have seen miracles through God working through me and cast out demons too. I have prophetic gifts and dreams. Ever since I really turned to God in Denmark I just did what he said and it happened. But I was warned not to talk about it and ever since I have been like, want to do more and where are those where you ..well I think you know what I mean. Unfortunately new age had a hold on me for some years. But I learned a lot. About evil and warfare. The rabbit hole is incredibly deep and I am thankful to God.
I want there to be revival too, but as God wants.
I need to refresh my german , I used to speak fluent in high school for three years, it is in my system but I need to learn again. It is coming when I am using it. Always had flair for language.
I believe as a schengen member I can move freely in the Eu, I can move as I want in Scandinavia. It would be interesting to help you. But I need german language. Currently I am stuck financially and work wise. I work in health care, everything is up to God.
I hope you have amazing results with God and that he bless your ministry.

There’s faithful servants everywhere and that’s rarely the only reason a church doesn’t appeal. It’s usually personal. What is your expectation concerning your prophetic gifts in relation to the church?

The UK isn’t a member of the Schengen Agreement and were unwilling to surrender border controls and opted out of it. Are you using a different visa?

I joined UK settlement scheme before it expired and I have lived long enough here to get permanent. SO I have permanent residency.
If you had lived over five years you got permanent.
I have no idea. where ever God wants

I am curious about your spiritual sensitivity, how it ties to your church experiences, & New Age experience as well @Godcrazy. I'm sure it might be a tough story. I feel like many churches are unaware of the spiritual warfare that goes on. Even solid churches just seem in the dark about it. But I think there's the other extreme too, where it just becomes more interested in an 'experience.' My opinion is the spirtual warfare is we can't always see it, but it's working & it manifests itself. In our 'modern age', that's been forgotten, but it did not go away

Thank you
I ended emailing directly the Catholic church's that actually offer the Holy spirit prayer services for 2hrs-3hrs in the week in the evening and suggested to them the below. Some responded and it is in their hands now.
I have also come across another link with some more figures in it.

Why are waiting for Catholic Charismatic worship services to happen in the United Kingdom?

My name is Rachel Obanubi and I was baptised as a Catholic as a child. I attended Catholic schools to the age of 19 where I attended mass also. I still from time to time attend to my Catholic childhood church services for mass in the weekdays.

The trend has been though that Charismatic Catholic church services that use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit have been resurging in America, Latin American countries and African countries.

We are now seeing in the UK prayer services for Gifts of the spirit in Catholic church’s such as the Westminster Catherdal group, St Boniface Group and Tooting prayer groups in London. These services however typically span several hours, some last for 2hrs 30 mins-4 hours for these services and are held in the evening on a weekday which is not possible for many people in the community to attend. These are not formal services where you can receive communion which are typically concluded within one hour.

As a teenager I was gifted with one of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. This has resided with me and has been instrumental in my life. There is a movement and we need to follow it.

It is a joy for me to see now the subtle movement of Charismatic Catholic church’s and services worldwide. This though really needs to filter down to the UK with shorter services. It is about time.

I have wanted to refer some people who seem to be seeking more of a spiritual content to a worship services but one that is also shorter in duration. I cannot wait to sit and worship and observe such a church service in my lifetime. This combination seems ideal to me. This is the time and what are we waiting for.

It is time to move so we provide more Charismatic services of worship of shorter duration in the week or weekday.

We are seeing a resurgence of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in our spiritual life and we need to meet that need. I would desire to attend and observe such a service in my lifetime. I have seen growth in the Anglican church with their healing and wholeness services using the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to manifest healing using the Gifts of the Holy Spirit on parishioners. This now needs to reverberate to my Catholic brothers and sisters through their services.

The challenge is yours.

Let us remind ourselves that the prophet Joel wrote that the gifts of the Holy Spirit will be further poured out on the earth again (Acts 2 16-21) and will continue until the Perfect one returns, which is Jesus.

In faith hope and respect

Rachel Obanubi

.........................

After some extensive research I have found something which is most similar to what I have been searching for and is showing some initiative.

This service to in the UK which is aimed more at young people seems to be thriving in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and worship as well.

Greetings rachelrising,
Thank you for keeping us updated on your efforts and outreach. We have also often found often-times, such direct reaching out on such questions is the best way to go, it helps to amplify the kind of personal connection that's at the heart of good ministry, virtually anywhere it's being done.

Howdy Wendy, saw from your intro thread that you have Southern Baptist roots and chiming in here as a fellow Southerner from Mississippi well familiar with the Baptist tradition, and so excited to see it be such a part of the Europe missions too. Sounds like you might be already over in Germany or touring thereabouts laying your mission ground-work, our groups have done similar preparatory trips leading into the main ministries in the surrounding countries there so praise for making the leap. And of course welcome or should I say, Willkommen!

Greetings Wendy,
Just wanted to echo the kind words of Mandy and the others and say "willkommen"! My German's a bit rusty now as our mission network's main focus has shifted to France so I can say "bienvenue" and plenty else a bit easier I suppose. Though either way I'm sure we provide a nice bit of amusement for those around us (including our fellow American missionaries) with our heavily Texas-twanged French, German or whichever other language we're ministering in Europe.

Either way, blessings and best of luck to you wherever you are now, and congratulations first off on having the courage and determination to simply make this step (and make the move) with your family. Ever since St. Paul and his own retinue this has often been one of the most challenging barriers to any mission work, simply getting started, and your enthusiasm is already contagious!

A hearty fellow welcome from our little neck of the woods Wendy. Or καλώς ήρθατε (kalos irthate) as we like to say in Greek. We're operating mostly out of the Greece missions and the broader Balkans and eastern Mediterranean with a lot of recruiting back in the states and all over. And raising our 3 kids as fully Greek themselves, just as like it sounds like you're planning with your family in Germany. In fact we have a little Iowa connection ourselves, a little neighborhood church back in Davenport where one of us drew early inspiration. But anyway I'm sure I speak for other's here and around to welcome you and we're glad to have you on board.
