Trump floats stripping Rosie O’Donnell of US citizenship: ‘She is a Threat to Humanity’

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Surely, President Trump is just kidding around?
No I don't believe he is kidding. I mean- I think he would do it if he could, but he knows he likely can't.
And conservatives who are OK with this(And I am a conservative who wants to see the border secured, remain in Mexico, don't like ICE being attacked and think the DEM party should call this out but they don't)

They should. Because what happens when the Democrat party gets back in power and a Democrat President were to say something like this about someone they disagreed with politically? They could say: " So and so is a domestic terrorist- they pray in front of and block abortion clinics, etc." I think I'll strip their citizenship."
Do people realize how dangerous this is?

I’d like to know where he’s gotten the idea that he can do anything he pleases with no repercussions.

I think regardless of how people feel about the president people should pray for him.

As president of the US, he has to deal with tremendous forces and pressures of the job, spiritual and mundane.

I don't believe he is a perfect person but no one is perfect, everyone in the Bible has sinned, Moses smashed the tablets and killed someone, David had an affair, Saul tried to kill David, Samson broke his oath.

Rather than express hatred and resentment towards Trump, we should be sympathetic to the fallen condition of humanity and understanding. As a person Trump has faced numerous attempts on his life as well as persecution

I agree we need to pray for all Presidents, those we voted for and support and those we didn't

She needs help. They’ve fought for a long, long time. Trump won’t be president forever.
I don't care for her either but threatening to strip away someone's citizenship even in jest because you don't like what they say or they criticize you is not only dangerous it plays into the hands of those who claim he has authoritarian dictatorish tendencies. We'd be outraged if a President AOC or similar was saying the same thing on social media about a conservative pro-life actor.

Absolutely! That’s very true!

Different Ways You Can Lose Your U.S. Citizenship

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that a person born a citizen of this country cannot lose their nationality unless they ~voluntarily and intentionally relinquish it~.

However, there are certain behaviors that can result in a loss of nationality even if you were born in the United States. That’s because the Court ruled that actions inconsistent with remaining a citizen can be a form of voluntary relinquishment.

Here are some different situations where citizenship status is at risk for natural-born citizens.

Running for Public Office or Working in the Government of a Foreign Country

If you run for public office in another country for a policy-making position, this can be grounds for losing citizenship even if you were born in the United States. Becoming a citizen of another country or declaring allegiance to another country and then accepting a position in that country’s government can also result in the loss of your U.S. nationality.

However, the key is whether your action demonstrates a specific intent to renounce U.S. citizenship. If so, and you are over 18 and have left the United States, you can be considered to have voluntarily given up your status as a U.S. national.

Serving in a Foreign Military

If you are over 18 and you join another country’s military when they are engaged in hostilities against the U.S., or if you become an officer in another country’s military, this can be seen as a voluntary revocation of your citizenship and you can lose your status as a U.S. citizen. This is true even for natural-born citizens who have left the United States.

Applying for Citizenship Elsewhere With the Intent To Renounce U.S. Citizenship

Simply becoming a citizen of another country usually isn’t enough to lose your status as a U.S. national. Rather, you must do so with the intent to sever your ties with the United States, be over 18 and have left the U.S. at the time your citizenship is lost.

Committing an Act of Treason Against the U.S.

If you participate in an effort to overthrow this country’s government or commit other acts of treason such as bearing arms against the U.S., you can lose the right to be a citizen. This is true even if you are still within the country and even if you were born here.

Let's assume he is. Big problem: Youi can't arbitrarily revoke someone's US citizenship. Found this in a quick search:

Can Your U.S. Citizenship Be Revoked?

Ms. O'Donnell was born a US citizen, so she is cannot be denaturalized. She is currently a resident of Ireland. To the best of my knowledge she has not:

Run for public office in Ireland, or worked for the Irish government.
Joined the Irish military.
Applied for Irish citizenship, intending to renounce US citizenship.
Committed treason against the US.

In other words, she's done nothing for the US to revoke her citizenship.

From the Democrats.

I’m sure he is as serious about this as he is about making Canada the 51st state. Nothing more than something to start a conversation.

Not when their group is in power.
The principle of "What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander" tends to be forgotten" by both sides. And yes, if O'Donnell loses her citizenship (unlikely) for political reasons, it will be applied to conservatives after liberals regain political power.

I think she would rather be an Irish citizen anyway. I believe she is in the process of applying for it.
Haven't been able to determine it. Came across too may opinion pieces and possibly AI generated articles. If she prefers Ireland and wants to be a citizen there, that's her business.
