Hi,

(Posting in fellowship)

In order for an Orthodox Church to be in good standing, do they have to be in communion with the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople? Is he considered the visible head? I know he’s first among equals, and not an “Orthodox Pope.”

God bless

The Ecumenical Patriarch has primacy based upon Rome's schism and the Canons of the Council of Chalcedon. He has certain prerogatives because of that primacy but he is not infallible nor has universal jurisdiction.

So no bishop in Orthodoxy would be considered the most important or powerful? Correct?

Many thanks!
the one who is correct is the most powerful, because he is following God regardless of his see.

no problem!
So what does the Ecumenical Patriarch really represent? Constantinople only? Right?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Peace
