Oddly Minneapolis is in Hennepin County and St. Paul is in Ramsey County. Suspect is in Hennepin County jail.

I don't know how they decide, it could be because the arrest was in Minneapolis.

Large scale illegal drug production and smuggling are such recent issues. There was such scant trade prior to 2021 it was nearly unheard of.

Back in the Al Capone days he would hit a particular bank and hightail it up Hennepin Ave to the St. Paul city limits. He got away hitting that same bank numerous times. The St. Paul police didn’t care.

Wondering if the Feds deputized the St. Paul police because the Minneapolis police couldn’t be bothered to care in this arrest. Who knows. Curious.

About 20% of all of the bank robberies in the United States took place in Minnesota at the end of the gangster era, and St. Paul was a safe haven for criminals. Dillinger, the Karpis gang, and Al Capone did spend time in the area. Today the area boasts the most dangerous light rail system in the country, with one of the worst hangout for criminals on the busy stop on the light rail system.

Capone famously did hang out in St. Paul when things got hot, but I think I should have said it was Karpis and Barker who robbed the Northwestern National Bank. That bank was hit MANY times. It was a way too easy target. The MO was to hit the bank on the east bank of the Mississippi still in Minneapolis and drive east into St. Paul about a mile away through my old neighborhood to St. Paul. St. Paul was a refuge when things got too hot for the gangstas in Chicago, and they didn't allow Minneapolis police in St. Paul.
